Our Retina 2011 Conference was incredibly successful with a full house on both the Scientific and Public Engagement days. Audio recordings and a recap of the presentations are now available online. We'll have details of Retina 2012 soon.

Genable Receives €5m
Genable Technologies, a TCD firm originating in the lab of Prof Pete Humphries, Prof Jane Farrar and Dr Paul Kenna has received €5m in venture capital funding to bring a treatment for RP to clinical trial. This is a major advancement for the work started by Fighting Blindness in TCD 30 years ago.

Stem Cell Trial Promising
At Retina 2011, we heard about exciting new research out of the US on the use of stem cells to help restore sight. While still in the early days, results look promising. Researchers in the UK will soon replicate the study. Ronan McGreevy from the Irish Times investigates further.
