Fighting Blindness Newsletter

Jan/Feb 2011

Greetings!

What an exciting start to 2011! In January FB funded research at TCD, into a gene therapy for the dominant form of RP was not only published but awarded Orphan Drug Designation by the European Medicines Agency - paving the way for development of a treatment.  We also participated in The Europlan Conference which is an EU project established to help implement a national strategy on rare diseases in Member States by 2013.

In February we celebrated one of the most anticipated sporting weekends on the calendar with a host of well loved personalities from the Irish rugby and horse racing world to raise funds for continued research.

There are lots more exciting events to come including treks to Kilimanjaro and Everest and the Dublin Women's Mini-Marathon. Looking  forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards,
The Fighting Blindness Team
