Fighting Blindness Newsletter November 2009 |
Greetings!
As the
first decade of the 21st Century draws to a close, Fighting Blindness can look back
at a remarkable period in its development.
This decade has seen a steady
increase in our research portfolio from 3 to 12 projects in centres
around Ireland. These projects continue to
yield breakthroughs of international significance in the search for cures for
blindness.
The scope of our work has grown over the
years. In 2002, we opened the Insight Counselling Centre to
provide support for our growing membership. We have also increased our role in patient
advocacy both home and abroad. Last year, we established the Fighting
Blindness Vision Research Institute to take our research to the next stage. As the past 26 years at Fighting Blindness have shown, patients working together can make
improvements to their quality of life and to their futures.
Only with your help are we able to continue
our work. We hope you'll remember Fighting Blindness this Christmas by purchasing gifts or giving a donation to help us continue to fund world-leading research into treatments
and cures for blindness.
Kind regards,
The Fighting Blindness Team |
