What a fantastic month to enjoy the outdoors!  Be sure to take advantage of the great weather to get in some ride time.

As the triathlon season comes to a close, we give you some pointsroad covered w leaves to consider to take stock of your season and plan ahead to the next.  This month we have two events you may want to consider - Spin for Kids and the Peachtree Station Swim & Tennis Club Duathlon for Kids.

Be sure to join us for breakfast after our group ride on Saturday, October 30th.  This year, we will keep our ride going throughout the winter.  You can check out the details below.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter if you haven't already - we will use these two avenues to notify you of last-minute cancellations due to the weather.  We hope to see you Saturday morning, in the store or on the trail!

Looking Back & Moving Forward in your Fitness Program

 

Whether you are new to triathlon training or have been at it for years, taking a season-end look at the year is a beneficial exercise and can help to position you for a better season in 2011.tri swim start

 

Success in a sport is just like success in any other aspect of your life.  Planning is critical to success and deciding where you want to go in the future begins with knowing where you have been in the past.  Recognizing trends and evaluating what you've been doing are both important steps on the path to racing better next year.

 

This process can be accomplished in several ways.  Talking with your coach or a trusted training partner is probably the best way.  Or, you can do this yourself by answering some key questions.  Your answers can lead you in many different directions.  Ultimately, the triathlon women transitionreason for such an exercise is to give you more focus when it comes to training and racing.  It may even help you to decide why it is you devote so much of your life to training.

Here are five questions to answer at the end of your race season and before starting to prepare for the coming season:

1. What was the high point of your season? 
Why does this stand out for you?  Was it what you thought it would be at the start of the season?

 

2. What was your greatest disappointment?  Why did this happen?  Is triathlon man crossing finishthere anything you could have done to avoid it?

 

3. Looking back, do you think you trained as wisely and as hard as you could have trained?  Did you maximize your training hours?

 

4. What is the one thing you most need to work on for next season in order to perform better?  Do you need any other equipment or a different training partner?

5. What would you most like to accomplish next season?  Is it a good stretch and yet within your reach if you do things right?

Join us for "Spin for Kids" to benefit Camp Twin Lakes

camp twin lakes logoWhat:  A multi-distance charity ride to support Camp Twin Lakes.  Your donations help send kids with serious illnesses and life challenges to Camp Twin Lakes.  Five courses will allow riders of various skill levels to participate in this exciting event.  This year will feature 5, 27, 47, 62, and 100-mile rides.  All routes are fully supported with premium rest stops, SAG wagons, and motorcycle escorts.
 
When:  Sunday, October 24, 2010.
 
Where:  Rides will begin and end at Camp Twin Lakes in
Rutledge, GA, located 50 miles east of Atlanta.  The courses take riders through rural Northeast Georgia and the historic towns of Madison and Rutledge.
 
Who:  This event is open to anyone. 
The entry fee for this event is $45 and you are required to raise $100.  The home page for the event is www.spinforkids.org.

Peachtree Station Swim & Tennis Club Duathlon for Kids

Join us for the inaugural Peachtree Station Swim and Tennis Club Duathlon for Kids on Sunday, November 7th at 2:00 PM.  The event will take place at the PSST clubhouse located at 3939 Eastman Trail in Norcross.kids triathlon bike

 
The event will be a half-mile run/3-mile bike/half-mile run and the top overall male and female winners for the following age groups will be recognized:  5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12.  Children aged 3 & 4 can participate in the "Tots on Wheels" event which will take place in the parking lot and will include a 1 lap run, 2 lap bike and a 1 lap run. 

Please note:

For your child's safety, all bikes need to be inspected prior to the event by The Bicycle Wheel.  It is suggested that you bring your child's bike to the store well in advance of the event to avoid delays.

 

Packet pick-up will begin at 2:00 Saturday, November 6th at the clubhouse.  Race numbers will be given out at that time along with t-shirts for participants.  Parking for the event will take place at the Peachtree Corners Baptist Church lot in front of the soccer fields.   You can drop your athlete off for the race then park or you both can walk to the clubhouse to get ready for the event.  There will be no parking available at the clubhouse.

Important Ride News!

 
On Saturday, October 23 and Saturday October 30th, we will be riding at our normal time - 8:00AM.  Be sure to join us Saturday, October 30th for a free continental breakfast afterwards.

Starting Saturday, November 6th, we will be moving back our ride time to a 10:00AM start.  We will continue to meet at 10:00AM, weather permitting, until Spring.
 
If the weather is inclement, there will be no ride.  We will notify you via Facebook
 and Twitter if there will be no ride.  Be sure to check there first before you drive to the store.
