Johns Creek gets its own greenway!
Join us on Monday, March 23rd at 2:30pm at Perimeter Church (9500 Medlock Bridge Road) for the start of construction on the Johns Creek Greenway! We are very excited about our new Greenway as it will give us another great place to ride. Check out our facebook page for more details.
Speaking of greenways, many of you already use the Alpharetta Greenway, but did you know that the Alpharetta Greenway is now connected to the Roswell Greenway and the Big Creek Mountain Biking Trails? See our article below for more information on this wonderful resource right in our own back yard.
And...if you happen to need a mountain bike for those trails, now is a great time to look into a GT mountain bike. This month and next, we will be running a one-time special on all in-stock 2009 GT Avalanche mountain bikes. Stop in today for a demo!
See you on the roads,

Big Creek Park is a "Hidden Gem"
As the weather slowly turns from cold to warm, all of us are anxious to get outdoors and enjoy a ride. Fortunately for us who live in the North Fulton area, we already have a great place to ride. Whether you enjoy a a casual ride on a comfort or hybrid bike or love the challenge of a mountain bike trail, Big Creek Park has something for everyone.
Technically, Big Creek Park consists of three interlinking trail systems: The "Greenway" Trail, Mountain Bike Trails and a Walking Trail.
The "Greenway" Trail is located in both Alpharetta and Roswell. The Alpharetta section spans from Webb Bridge Road on the north end to Mansell Road on the south end. This multi-use path runs parallel to North Point Parkway for 6.1 miles. This is a great place to jog, ride a comfort bike or take kids since there is no vehicular traffic. Click here for a map of the Alpharetta Greenway.
The Roswell section consists of just over 2 miles of concrete sidewalk and boardwalks. Like the Alpharetta Greenway, this is a multi-use trail and is paved. Recently, the Alpharetta section and the Roswell section were connected via a boardwalk. Bikes are allowed and must yield to walkers and runners.
The Mountain Bike Trails are adjacent to the Roswell section of the Greenway. These trails are all directional trails, meaning on certain days of the week riders go in a clockwise direction while other days of the week riders must go in a counter-clockwise direction. This evens out trail wear and erosion. Directions are noted as you enter trails from both sides.
Click on the map at right for a larger view of the Roswell Greenway and Mountain Biking Trails.
The natural surface Walking Trail is for walkers, runners and dog walking. This is a 1.5 mile loop and connects to The Greenway Trail at the north end. There are NO bikes allowed on the walking trail.
For those who live in Forsyth County, there are plans in place for a greenway system that will eventually connect to those in Fulton County. You can view a map of the various phases here to see if the path will come close to where you live.
Please Note: All trails are CLOSED for 24 hours after rain. You can always check RAMBO's website for area trail status. Click here to go there now. |
Atlanta Bicycle Campaign Cell Phone Collection Drive
The Atlanta Bicycle Campaign, a non-profit organization that since 1991 has made it safer and easier for people to ride bicycles, has partnered with Collective Good to accept donations of used cell phones, PDA's pagers and accessories.
From now until the end of March, The Bicycle Wheel will serve as a collection point for the cause.
