It Makes No Sense

How can a farm worker who spends long hours in the fields each day not have enough money to feed his family?  You and I both know that this makes no sense.

And how can a nursery worker take an entire day off from work to go to the doctor, knowing she'll miss a paycheck? This, too, makes no sense.

You can take a stand against these injustices - do it right now... and we can double your gift!  The Sobrato Family Foundation will match dollar for dollar all increased or new gifts to Puente this year.

Don't doubt it for a second -- our plans for 2011 are ambitious. Everything we do relies on cost-effective, long-lasting solutions:  a safe place to live, accessible healthcare, and support for youth so that they can pursue their dreams for college or a vocational career.

With your help, we'll continue our work to improve lives and -- better yet -- break the cycle of hopelessness that so often accompanies living in an under resourced rural community.

I hope you'll take a minute to think about the impact you want to make in 2011 -- then make a contribution.

Thank you for all the many ways you support Puente.

Wishing you my very best for a happy holiday season,

PS. The theologian Jim Wallis wrote: "Hope unbelieved is always considered nonsense. But hope believed is history in the process of being changed." Help us change history.
