Summer 2012

Wagging Tales Banner

Dear Friends and Family,

I can't believe Summer is almost here. It seems that time goes by faster and faster these days.

With my recent experience in helping to locate BB (see story below), I've decided to be even more proactive about getting the word out about what to do if your pet becomes lost.

If you've ever had a lost or stolen pet, you know firsthand how frustrating it can be to not know exactly what to do to find your pet as quickly as possible.

So, in addition to listing many helpful tips on my web site for finding lost animals, also look for this information to be distributed to the media soon.

Send me a message via Facebook to let me know if you've ever had a lost pet and what you did to find them. The more helpful tips we can share, the better!

Help Daniel Ban the Use of Gas Chambers on Animals
(and vote for him in this year's Hero Dog Awards)

Daniel the Beagle 2

Did you know that many states (31 to be exact) still allow the use of gas chambers to euthanize animals? I was surprised when I learned this.

Against all odds, this remarkable dog survived being euthanized in an Alabama gas chamber last October.

Now, Daniel and his adoptive family are campaigning against the use of gas chambers in the remaining 31 states. They recently went to Michigan, visited with the legislators there and advocated that they pass "Daniel's Law".

To find out more about Daniel or, to see if your state still authorizes the use of gas chambers to euthanize animals, please visit Daniel's web site by clicking here.

Daniel has also been nominated for this year's Hero Dog Awards for his efforts to help animals everywhere by campaigning to ban the use of gas chambers to euthanize animals.

You can show your support for Daniel by voting for him in the Hero Dog Awards by clicking here.
You can vote once per day!

He also has his own Facebook page. To follow all of his latest activities, click here and send him a friend request.

BB Comes Home

BB

Meet BB. She is a beloved, 2 pound, 18-year old, blind Yorkie from Alvin, Texas.

At the suggestion of a family friend, her pet parents enlisted my help when she came up missing recently.

Unlike all of the other lost animals that I have worked with to bring home, BB is blind. So when I communicated with her, she wasn't able to "show" me her surroundings. Instead, she shared smells and sounds with me. I relayed this information to her family along with a map indicating where BB's energy was the strongest and she was found.

BB's story was picked up in the Houston Chronicle, the San Antonio Express-News and several other sites. Hopefully, BB's story will show others with lost animals that they can be found successfully.

As with every lost animal that I am able to help be reunited with their family, I am always grateful beyond words!

Sneaky Pie Brown for
President

I recently interviewed Rita Mae Brown about her latest novel, The Big Cat Nap, on my Animal Writes show on Pet Life Radio. This is the 20th novel in the Mrs. Murphy Mystery series.

As you may know if you're familiar with this series, the co-author, Sneaky Pie Brown, is a gray tiger cat that Rita Mae rescued from the SPCA shelter.

During the interview, I found out that Sneaky Pie is also running for president this year.
