Professional Pet Sitting Companies
How to Find a Good One

Many years ago when we got our first pets, we decided that we would have someone we trusted stay in our home with our pets when we went on vacation. However, a friend or family member wasn't always available. So, we had to find a reputable pet sitting company.

So, you may ask, what are some of the qualifications of a good pet sitting company? Some of the qualifications are:
  • Can they provide references upon request?
  • Are they bonded and insured?
  • Are they a member of a professional organization like the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters?
  • Can their pet sitters come by your home before the first assignment to meet you an your pets?
  • Do they detail their services and fees in a service contract?
  • Are the pet sitters employed by the company competent in dealing with the types of pets you have?

So, while you may have to do some research to find a reputable pet sitting company, your pets will appreciate your efforts on their behalf.

In the end, whoever (vet, boarding facility, family member, friend, neighbor, etc.) you entrust the care of your pet to should be someone that you know will care for them in the manner that you specify and who your pets feel most comfortable with.

How To Tell
Researching Charitable Organizations
Humane Charity Seal
Do you ever wonder about whether the health-related charitable organization that is soliciting you for a donation tests on animals? Well if you do, but you don't know where to find this type of information, visit the Humane Charity Seal web site. They have compiled information on almost all of the national health-related charitable organizations in the United States including whether or not they test on animals.

The Humane Charity Seal web site is sponsored by Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) whose main goal is to show universities and other organizations that continue to base their research on animal testing that there are alternatives to this practice.
