Union Olympics
Greetings!
The United States Olympic team will soon be on their way to London to represent our country in one of the greatest displays of talent and pride you'll ever see. They will, however, be arriving in a way that ruffled the feathers of more than a few supporters of the red, white and blue. Their uniforms were made in China, and those on Capitol Hill as well as Labor 411 Facebook followers asked the obvious question: Why weren't they made in the U.S.A.?
More than ever, the desire of Americans to keep jobs at home is becoming a national outcry and Labor 411 is leading the way in the Buy Union movement. Beyond keeping those jobs here, or bringing them back, we need to insist that they are good-paying jobs that provide "living wages." Bottom line: Unions protect workers and keep corporate greed in check.
We are proud to say that Labor 411 now has the backing of 12 National Unions, which have signed on in support of the Buy Union movement and have provided direct links to the Labor 411 Directory on their websites for the benefit of their members.
And there are lots of other exciting things going on here, too. In the coming months we'll be adding new cities to the directory and launching a new website and mobile app. We're making it even easier to Buy Union!
