Round Two Results Are In!-
So
far the average Shape Up & Go! participant has lost 2.6 pounds,
exercised for 821 minutes, and walked 213,650 steps--that's 106.8 miles! Are you up to the average? If you are, we challenge you to
pull your team even further....
Together,
Cleveland Clinic employees have lost 4,898.3 pounds, exercised for 1,895,509
minutes, and walked 619,159,022 steps (about 309,597 miles,
which is 12.4 times around the earth at the equator!).
Greetings!
Greetings to all our Shape Up & Go all-stars! We've
just wrapped up round 3 and you're doing amazingly! To date, we 've walked over
619,159,022 steps as a group - or
309,597 miles! Impressive, right? Even
more so when you realize you 're reaching new heights
with the support of your co-workers and friends.
When you see you 're not alone on your journey, it puts
some spring in your step. Buddies are
key so convince someone to help you and return the love to
a friend.
Have you filled out your profile yet? Most have; it's a fabulous affirmation of your
commitment to your long term goals. It's also the best way to meet some new
friends who share a common interest or goal. In this week's employee spotlight
we applaud
Andrea Allen from Medina
Hospital and her 'attempt to Rollerblade'. You go girl!
Jack Crabb from Cole Eye, you may swim
your team's way into first place yet!
Our new
Fruit & Veggie tracker
is a hit, and your making spoonfuls of
healthy progress by using it. After six weeks it should be getting easier to
incorporate healthy alternatives into your meals and snacks, like sliced fruits
or cut veggies. When these are on the menu, there's no last
bite guilt!
Because we can all use a little extra inspiration, this week's Shape Up & Go
Support Team comedy break offers comical celebrity
quotes about exercise.

"Never eat more thean you can lift." ( Miss Piggy)

"I just use my muscles as a conversation piece, like someone walking a cheetah down 42nd Street." ( Arnold Schwarzenegger)

"I don't exercise. If God wanted me to bend over, he'd have put diamonds
on the floor." (Joan Rivers)

"I gotta work out. I keep saying it all the time. I keep saying I gotta
start working out. It's been about two months since I've worked out. And I just
don't have the time. Which uh..is odd. Because I have the time to go out to
dinner. And uh..and watch tv. And get a bone density test. And uh.. try to
figure out what my phone number spells in words." ( Ellen DeGeneres)
This week's joke comes from
Kristine Goad from Independence Family Health and Surgery Center.
A man is walking home alone late
one foggy Halloween night, when behind him he hears:
BUMP...
BUMP...
BUMP...
Walking faster, he looks back and through the fog he makes out the image of an
upright casket banging its way down the middle of the street toward him.
BUMP ..
BUMP...
BUMP...Terrified, the man begins to run toward his home, the casket bouncing
quickly behind him.
FASTER...
FASTER...
BUMP...
BUMP...
BUMP...
He runs up to his door, fumbles with his keys, opens the door, rushes in, slams
and locks the door behind him. However, the casket crashes through his door,
with the lid of the casket clapping.
clappity-BUMP...
clappity-BUMP...
clappity-BUMP...
on his heels, as the terrified man runs.
Rushing upstairs to the bathroom, he locks himself in.. His heart is pounding;
his head is reeling; his breath is coming in sobbing gasps.
With a loud CRASH the casket breaks down the door.
Bumping and clapping toward him.
The man screams and reaches for something, anything, but all he can find is a
bottle of cough syrup! Desperate, he throws the cough syrup at the casket...
and,
...........................................
(hopefully
you're ready for this!!!)
The coffin stops.
Please send us your success stories, team photos (come
