Dear Friends,
With over 3,000 participants stepping strong from across Cleveland Clinic, Shape Up & Go! Outside promises to be a fun, challenging, and exciting competition.
If you participated in the first Shape Up & Go! competition, then you know the drill. If you are new to the program, this promises to be an exciting 8 weeks.
Shape Up & Go Outside! is designed to continue the team-building and healthy choices that we've already begun. We will have a special focus on outdoor physical activity, now that the weather is warm and it's easy to be active outside.
The competition has begun, so set your goals and let's get started. We're going to motivate you along the way. Each week during the campaign, you will receive this newsletter filled with helpful tips and recommendations from leading health experts.
So clip on your pedometer, tie your shoelaces--and let's make this a great competition!
Good
luck to you and your team!
Yours in health,
The Cleveland Clinic Employee Wellness Team

Make the
Commitment
|
We encourage you and your team members to print, sign, and post the Shape Up & Go Outside! Team Contract. When you put it in writing it
seems to come true!
Once signed, hang it in a place
(at work or at home) where you'll see it every day. Use it as a strong
motivational factor for committing yourself to better health and reaching your goals--and to help empower your team!

Weekly Tips for Outdoor Activity
|
- Go
to the zoo: http://www.clemetzoo.com/
Cuyahoga
County residents can go free each Monday to the
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
Residents should bring a driver's license, state ID, or utility bill with their
address. Offer applies to the zoo only, not the Rain Forest, but there's plenty
to see at the zoo, including the "Australian Adventure" and the
"Wolf Wilderness" exhibits. Parking is always free at the zoo.
- Metro
Parks: Discover a new metro-park!
Most of
the parks have trails that you can walk, run, rollerblade, or bike on.

The towpath passes
through Cuyahoga Valley National Park extends from just south
of I-480 all the way to Akron, along the Cuyahoga River. The scenic area offers
history, hiking, bicycling, winter sports, and all sorts of learning
opportunities.
