Round Two Is Complete!
  • Participants on average have lost 3.2 pounds, exercised for 816 minutes, and walked 204,971 steps.

  • Together, Cleveland Clinic employees have lost 6,726.5 pounds, exercised for 2,178,939 minutes and walked 690,957,649 steps.
Dear Friends,

Guess what? The average participant in Shape Up The Nation has walked 204,971 steps--the equivalent of 102 miles!

Sound impossible? It's not. YOU've done it through hard work, discipline, group motivation, shoe leather, and hopefully your mutual support with a buddy.  No buddy?  It's still not too late to find one.

YOU've done it by joining together as a massive community of active individuals who are setting the pace for the rest of the nation to follow.

Congratulations on your amazing progress so far in the competition!

Yours In Health,
The Cleveland Clinic Employee Wellness Team

Laughter Is The Best Medicine
Joke of the WeekSmile
A man is dining in a fancy restaurant, and a gorgeous redhead is sitting at the next table.  He has been checking her out since he sat down, but lacks the nerve to talk with her.

Suddenly she sneezes, and her glass eye comes flying out of its socket toward the man. He reflexively reaches out, grabs it out of the air and hands it back.

'Oh my, I am so sorry,' the woman says as she pops her eye back in place.  'Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you,' she says.

They enjoy a wonderful dinner together, and afterwards they go to the theatre followed by drinks. They talk, they laugh, she shares her deepest dreams and he shares his. She listens.

After paying for everything, she asks him if he would like to come to her place for a nightcap and stay for breakfast. They had a wonderful, wonderful time.

The next morning, she cooks a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy is amazed. Everything had been SO incredible!

'You know,' he said, 'you are the perfect woman. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?'

'No,' she replies. . . 'You just happened to catch my eye.'

Thanks for your jokes...keep sending them to YOUDOCs@gmail.com and we'll keep including them! And thanks for keeping them PG!
Emotional Condition Is Important, Too!
AffirmationPut your mind at ease

You've been conditioning your body during these competition weeks, but did you know that conditioning your mind helps you meet goals?

Physical training and conditioning are as important as having a seat belt, but having a strong and clear mind is the engine that pulls you ahead.

A recent study found that people who were active focused on how exercise increased their quality of life, while those who didn't exercise focused more on fear and other negative emotions.

Your teammates can help you. Be flexible and forgiving, focus your thoughts on the benefits you're achieving-and most importantly, be kind to yourself.
