Join Rep. Harris and me for an information session on the State of Illinois Budget.  Discussion will include a review of the FY11 budget, challenges, and possible solutions.

The event will feature presentations by Laurence Msall from the Civic Federation and Ralph Martire from the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability. 

A Q & A session will follow.
Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival
Join me on Saturday, August 21st and Sunday, August 22nd from noon to 8PM at the Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival.  My office will be sharing a table with Commissioner Bridget Gainer.  I will have copies of my latest newsletter and other state information available, as well as free reusable bags.

Illinois Women's Institute for Leadership
The Illinois Women's Institute for Leadership (IWIL) is an educational not-for-profit (501[C][4]) organization created to encourage and train Democratic women to become effective leaders in Illinois government and politics.  The application for the 2011 program is now available.  Applicants can apply at http://www.iwilinfo.org/IWIL_APP2011.pdf.


 
Neighborhood Nights

Neighborhood Nights is a  weekly community-building event series that takes place right on the neighborhood avenue.  By providing free games, activities, and refreshments Neighborhood Nights creates a positive community atmosphere, promoting and empowering the neighborhood.  

Join us every Wednesday at Winona and Winthrop (playlot outside of Goudy School).
