Dear ,
Ready or not, the 2009/2010 school year is upon us. For all of us at OneWorld Classrooms, that means exciting new global connections and explorations!
In the coming school year, we'll once again offer our
International Art Exchange and
Classroom Connections programs; and we'll be bringing back our popular
Amazon Rain Forest School Project. In partnership with SUNY Albany, we'll also be developing our
Student to Student Language Lab; and, with the support of philanthropist Pamela Boll, we'll be working with Samara Hoyer-Winfield to create a new after-school program called
Global Snapshots. We'll also travel with artist Susan Shanley and filmmaker Allen Moore to complete a mural project at a high school in Banos, Ecuador, under the simmering active volcano Tungurahua!
A ninth grader from Senegal shares her amazing artwork through OWC's International Art Exchange.
Of course, we hope you'll join us on as many of these learning adventures as you can. Our goals are to reinforce your curriculum, build cross-cultural understanding, and, all the while, integrate art and technology into your classroom.
We have recently (8/18) updated our Web site for the coming school year and
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN. We recommend you register early to ensure your participation.
In the coming days and weeks, we'll send a series of E-bulletins with more information and instructions for how you can involve your class or school.
So, this is just a friendly heads up: Shake the sand out of your tote and dust off your lesson plans! Before you know it, you and your students will be exploring the world and interacting with classes from Timbuktu to Tibet, right from the comfort of your own classrooms. Sounds something like a vacation, no?
Happy classroom trails,
The OWC Team
Students travel to school early in the morning in the Amazon Rain Forest.
