OneWorld Classrooms offers a variety of FREE online resources that allow you to travel with your students to China -- from the comfort of your own classroom.
For cultural exploration tours to many different regions in China try one of these:
- For Elementary/Middle School Grades - Visit famous cities and sites throughout China with our E-Travel Logs, featuring true and traditional stories, cultural information and student Q & A's.
- For Middle/High School Grades - Explore China's culture, past and present, with our Cultural Profiles of Historic and Modern China. The site contains 41 multimedia tours, featuring photo slide shows, video and audio, focusing on seven Chinese cities/regions: Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Qufu, Chengdu, Xi'an and Tibet.
For arts and literature connections, try these:
- The Chinese Calligraphy Room features a third grader from Shanghai and high school students from Changsha (Hunan Province) sharing their skills in the ancient art of calligraphy, with photos, audio and video.
- Ancient Chinese Poetry Book, illustrated by 7th graders from Dali (Yunnan Province), explores the work of China's most famous poets (with Chinese text and English translations).
- Amazing Asian Animals is a poetic guess-who Asian animal safari, featuring poems using traditional Chinese forms.
- The Chinese Idiom Grab Bag features five common Chinese idioms and the short traditional stories that give them meaning.
