T
his Chinese New Year, travel with your students to China -- from the comfort of your own classroom.
OneWorld Classrooms offers several PowerPoint and online tours hosted by classes from China.

Visit schools in Shanghai, Yunnan Province and Hunan Province via our China Online Classroom Travel Resources or choose from the many PowerPoint tours in our Electronic Cultural Exchange Library.

For starters, we recommend these PowerPoints:

For elementary grades, try this brand new PowerPoint hosted by fourth graders at the Qingzhuhu Foreign Language School in Changsha, China. You will learn about modern Chinese culture as you tour the school. The text is in English with strategically embedded Chinese characters. See if you can figure out the meanings! After you've finished the tour, hop over to the Student to Student Language Lab to meet nine students from this class. They'll introduce themselves in English and teach you some Chinese through videos, audio files and flashcard artwork.

For middle school and high school grades, why not tour Zhangjiajie, one of China's most scenic sites, with high school students from the Wulingyuan Middle School. Follow up with a multimedia exploration of China, past and present, with our Cultural Profiles of Historic and Modern China.

Gong he xin xi! Happy Chinese New Year!
