Scripture to Pray
Devote yourselves to prayer,
being watchful and thankful. And pray for us too, that God may open a door
for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am
in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly as I should. Be wise in the way
you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Let your
conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know
how to answer every one. Colossians 4:2-6 .................................

Greetings,
We have so much to be thankful for this week and so much to pray for!
Look for prayer suggestions in this week's newsletter.
In "What's
New", read about the exciting book table with our speaker's latest books. In "Hostess Hints," find encouraging words for your guests before the event and follow up ideas for after the event. Please note under "Work Session
Update" that we'll have extended pre-event times when you can come help
transform the church.

Hot off the press!
Our speaker, Jane Rubietta, will have
her books on sale at the book table including her brand new book, Come Along, hot off the
press from the publisher and not yet available anywhere else! (Credit card and checks accepted.) Jane is graciously bringing gift bags for those purchasing books
as gifts.

Hostess Hints
Call your guests a few days before
Remember to call your guests a few
days before the event to tell them how excited you are that they will be
accompanying you to this sold out event! This will encourage those who might be
having second thoughts about taking time out of their busy schedules or being
away from their families. We are certain that they will be glad they came. It's
also a good idea to offer to pick them up or arrange to meet in a convenient
spot and drive to the church together. This can help eliminate last minute
cancellations as well as make it easier for all of you to sit together at
dinner.
What if my guest wants more information?
At Christmas in the Valley we will have
several tables with information about opportunities you and your guest can take
advantage of to investigate or to grow in faith. You'll see "next step" information
on
- the Monday night book discussion,
- the Alpha Course and
- a six-week class for
new believers with Bola Adelani on
Wednesday nights starting January 6.
There will also be a limited supply of New
Testaments and devotionals for interested guests to take home.
Note: If you have a Christmas in the Valley story to tell, email us at hjames@valleycommunity.cc |

Our Prayer
Lord, we pray for our speaker, Jane
Rubietta, for good health, safe travel and for your Spirit in her message.
We pray for all the program
participants and volunteers as they serve God with their time and talent. We
know this is all for Your glory, Lord.
We pray for all the guests that they
will come with open and soft hearts to hear the good news message. We pray that
there will be no distractions to keep them from attending.
More prayer suggestions
Ask God to open their spiritual eyes
2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this age
has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the
gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Ask God to give them ears to hear
Matthew 13:15 For this people's
heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have
closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their
ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'
Ask God for ways to build caring
relationships
I Corinthians 9:22 To the weak I
became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by
all possible means I might save some.
Ask God for opportunities to witness
Colossians 4:3 And pray for us, too,
that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery
of Christ, for which I am in chains.
Ask God for boldness to witness
Acts 4:29 Now, Lord ... enable your
servants to speak your word with great boldness.
