Greetings,

Although Thursday and Friday nights are sold out, there are still tickets available for Wednesday. You can purchase tickets online and get ticket exchange information by visiting our Christmas in the Valley Web site. It is also possible to purchase in-person at church at specified times. See ticket details to the left and at the Valley Web site.

In What's New, we explain our greeting process for this year. In Hostess Hints, read how a note on her refrigerator to pray for a friend prompted Sherry's guest to ask about her faith.

Sincerely,
The Christmas in the Valley Team
Valley Community Baptist Church

What's New?

Open seating will provide smooth seating at dinner. How can you help? Arrive with your complete party!

Our doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at the beginning of the evening.  After you have been greeted at the door, drop off your coats, and have your tickets collected, you will be directed to one of our beautiful dining rooms where our maitre d'hotel will seat your group.

If you arrive with your whole party, it will be easy to seat you together and enhance the quality of your evening. We realize arriving together can be difficult so we will be prepared to seat incomplete groups. We will place a reserved card at the seat of any guest who will follow. When the latecomer arrives, we will direct her to the Fellowship Hall (where incomplete groups will be seated), and you can be on the look out for her.

When you finish your dinner, you will be able to walk around to view the decorations, stop at our speaker's book table, visit the Library to see the Widow's Friend exhibit of handmade embroideries available for purchase or donation. At 7:20 p.m., all will be invited into the Sanctuary for the start of our program.

So what's your role again? Please arrive with your guests or advise them to arrive as closely as possible to to the time you tell them. This will help to make the evening enjoyable for all.

Hostess Hints

How could a note on a refrigerator note prompt Sherry's guest to ask her more about her faith? Read Sherry's account of this discussion with her guest and how "God's spirit used all of these pieces to put the puzzle together!"

Now that you, like Sherry, have invited a guest, how should you follow up? Conversation is a great place to start! Invite her to lunch or coffee. Ask the Holy to guide you and He will!! Perhaps you could:

  • Share one of your own highlights from the experience and ask your friend what she enjoyed most about the event.
  • Tell her about your personal testimony of faith, or even something God has been teaching you lately.
  • Ask her where she is on her spiritual journey by using questions like:

-Did you grow up with a religious background?

-What do you think about spiritual things?

-Are you interested in learning more about having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ?
Affirm that you have heard what she shared and are happy to walk alongside her, no matter where she is on her journey. Remember she is not a project, she's a friend!

Note: If you have a Christmas in the Valley story to tell, email us at hjames@valleycommunity.cc!

Tuesday, November 11, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
