Ashes on the news at 10.00!
A very well worded and reported article about us and our ashing on Bourbon Street went out on channel 6 news last night! Glimpses could be seen of Jerry as well as a starring role for Jen who fortuitously drove past for 'ashes to go' with Miss Mary just as the camera man appeared! God has impeccable timing... Let's hope this is the first of a great deal of positive exposure for MCC here in New Orleans! We even managed to get a mention for Cafe Lafitte (who kindly let us base ourselves there). Onwards and upwards!
Even our banner was shown - not just a glimpse of it but the whole message - 'God loves you as God made you - Gay, Straight or just Faaaabulous!' (thanks to Nancy Wilson and MCCLA for the inspiration for that banner)
Many thanks to all who helped out, including James who worded our press release. Thanks also to David, Mike, Jerry, Clint and Tony.
All that was missing from my point of view was Leon who alas had to work, but whom I have to thank for his continuing and largely unseen support and partnership. |
