Where indeed? It occurred to me that finding a church that doesn't expect you to check your intelligence, or your sexuality at the door is still the same challenge it was in 1968 when Troy founded MCC. It also seems to me that to avoid the reality of Jesus, churches have historically preached Jesus as a concept, as a name, as anything in fact to avoid preaching what Jesus preached! Starting Sunday I am beginning a sermon series entitled 'Red Letter Sermons' to reference the old red letter editions of the bible where the words of Jesus were highlighted. We will explore what Jesus preached, the message Jesus brought - the real and radical Good News, and seek to embrace it even when it conflicts with our comfort and our social inertia.
