Midnight Mass
There is nothing more moving, or better able to usher in a Christmas that MEANS something than attendance at a traditional Midnight Mass service. Midnight mass was always part of Pastor Clinton's tradition and this year we will be having it in New Orleans! It is a tranquil service of carols, with the first communion service of Christmas and ending with 'Silent Night' and a candlelit blessing. The church is beautifully decorated this year, and I hope people will turn out on Christmas Eve (11.30pm) for a special experience.
Paris White

Paris came through her operation succesfully yesterday, and is in recovery at the LSU medical center downtown. As soon as I have more details I will make them available. Let us all keep her in our prayers, as well as Dale Bills as he continues his recovery.
Gaudete means Rejoice!
 pink wreath"Last Sunday was again a joyful and spirit-filled service! I am overwhelmed by the presence of God that I am beginning to feel week by week  - if we preach and live the Gospel, pray for and call upon The Holy Spirit, and try to be the Body of Christ here in New Orleans then we are church! - as Jesus intended it. Once that happens numbers are irrelevant  - except as joyful evidence that many people have heard the Good News. "

I wrote the above text exactly a year ago, and then reported we had 21 people in church. Well last week, between our two services we had 94 people in church, 54 of them on our Sunday service, and as I said last year I say again - numbers are not the aim, they are joyful evidence that many people have heard the good news! People in church are a symptom, a symptom of God's loving presence and the faithfulness of the congregation to those loving principles that God embodies. So let us concentrate on craving God amongst us and within us, and look forward to Christmas as a memorial and testimony of God's dwelling on Earth in the form of a small child.

Christmas Invitation

 Two good friends of our church, Corey and Alan have extended an invitation to church goers to their home this coming Thursday between 6 and 10pm. Their address is number one College Parkway, which is off Barataria in Marrero, LA. People are more than welcome to bring a covered dish if they want but this is not required! Merry Christmas to Corey and Alan and thanks for your hospitality!

A Prayer of the Ressurection

Living God,

You have lit the day with the sun's light, and the midnight with shining stars.
Lighten our hearts with the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness
risen with healing on his wings -
Jesus Christ our Lord.
And so preserve us in the doing of your will,
that at the last we may shine as the stars for ever;
through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen
