thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
We at The Big Easy MCC have a lot to give thanks for. A year ago, survival was the best we could hope for, and yet here we are, a year later, now planning for a very bright future! The challenge is to be in a place of spiritual maturity and grace that allows us to give thanks for bad weeks, for sickness, for our failures, as well as for the more obvious blessings God gives us. This universal thanksgiving is the key to a life at peace - a life that points the way to full acceptance of God's universal love of creation; even the bits we don't like!
On Thursday morning at 10.00am we are having a joint Thanksgiving Day service with Central/St Matthews UCC , I will also be giving thanks for the friendship and guidance of Pastor Fred Meade, who is preparing to move on from his post at St Matthews. We at The Big Easy MCC want to extend warm thanks and the best possible wishes for his future in Cape Cod! May God bless and prosper your ministry Fred...

P.S. Please note there is NO bible study or Worship Team rehearsal this week due to Thanksgiving.

Big Easy MCC Grand Raffle 2008 -

REMEMBER YOUR TICKET STUBBS AND CASH THIS SUNDAY!!!

painting2

In today's economic climate few of us can afford $3000 for an original Alwyn Crawshaw Oil Painting - but we can probably afford $10 for a raffle ticket!!

We are privileged to be able to offer an original 12" by 16" framed oil painting titled 'Royal Street, New Orleans' for raffle. So far we have allocated $6500 worth of raffle tickets, but still have hundreds to give out and hundreds to sell!

We also have tickets available for Baton Rouge's cruise raffle, so that those who are not art lovers still have a means of winning something they want and helping out with our fundraising.

'Royal Street New Orleans' is on display at 'Estate Treasures', 2014 Magazine Street, NOLA 70130 until our draw on December 7th. If you would like to buy raffle tickets, or want to help us out by selling some, then contact me (Rev Clinton) on 504 214 4340 or email me at revcrawshaw@yahoo.com. Alternatively, tickets can be secured online through paypal - Buy Now
More details at www.bigeasymcc.com/fundraiser.html

Remember! Whoever sells the most tickets wins a Giclee (canvas gallery wrap) print of the above painting!

BIBLE STUDY IS POSTPONED THIS WEEK DUE TO THANKSGIVING!

Paris will be back NEXT week teaching Bible Study. Last week our topic was 'stepping out of the boat', and we ranged widely over our own spiritual growth and the things that hold us back. We will be back at 7.30pm next week on wednesday at church to continue what is proving a very rewarding course.

O miracle
Of divine goodness!
O fire! O flame of zeal, and love, and joy!
Ev'n for our earthly bodies, hast thou created all things.
All things material, visible, sensible;
Animals, Vegetables, Minerals,
Bodies celestial, Bodies terrestrial,
The four elements, Volatile spirits, Trees, herbs, and flowers,
The influences of heaven,
Clouds, vapours, wind, Dew, rain, hail and snow,
Light and darkness, night and day,
The seasons of the year.
Springs, rivers, fountains, oceans,
Gold, silver, and precious stones.
Corn, wine, and oil,
The sun, moon, and stars,
Cities, nations, kingdoms.
And the bodies of men, the greatest treasures of all,
For each other.
What then, O Lord, hast thou intended for our
Souls, who givest to our bodies such glorious things!

prayer hands

 FOR PRAYER..

Precious God, Father and Mother of us all - lift up our desires, and dreams, and fear, and enfold them in Your Purpose - Your Spirit. We trust always in You, no matter what we have to face it is nothing as long as we are with You. We pray for all who are sick and lonely, and all who have no one to pray for them, give them we pray some measure of the blessings we feel in Your Presence. We pray for Lillian, Bill, Warren, R, Margaret, James, Will, Robert, Richard, Dorothy and many many more whose name are unknown to us. We also pray for the Worldwide movement for Equality. Be there for these souls as we feel You here for us. In Jesus Name. Amen.
