marriage equality

Faith without works is dead - lets DO something!!

This Saturday, as part of a coordinated nation wide demonstration, there will be a gathering to call for Marriage Equality at 1300 Perdido St, New Orleans, in front of City Hall at 12.30. I have no idea how many people will turn up; we are issuing a press release, and I am in contact with both the HRC and Forum for Equality but I am sure we need to be standing in Perdido Street at 12.30. We need to counter the assumption that the Christian church is universal in it's support of prejudice and bigotry; as LGBT affirming Christians we are better placed than anyone else to answer the malicious flapdoodle that is being spewed out by the 'religious' right. We have the church banner, I will dress up to the nines in my robes, and I hope lots of people will make protest signs and banners! Even one voice raised in truth to support justice is worth more than a whole city screaming for the certainties of the hate-filled past. We also need volunteers to go into the community between now and Saturday to make sure that people know about the demonstration!

If you are interested in printing out or copying fliers to pass around at work, school, or put up around town, use this link (http://jointheimpact.wetpaint.com/?t=anon) and scroll to the bottom. There is a flier for the event (although it's missing information like where the place is--but you can write it on there) it would be much appreciated.

Get in touch with as many people as you know, and spread the word, that includes people in the media and straight friends and supporters.

P.S. That sermon last Sunday was good timing wasn't it? God is good!

P.P.S. Last Sunday's sermon is now posted on the website and youtube.

Big Easy MCC Grand Raffle 2008

painting2

In today's economic climate few of us can afford $3000 for an original Alwyn Crawshaw Oil Painting - but we can probably afford $10 for a raffle ticket!!

We are privileged to be able to offer an original 12" by 16" framed oil painting titled 'Royal Street, New Orleans' for raffle. So far we have allocated $6500 worth of raffle tickets, but still have hundreds to give out and hundreds to sell!

We also have tickets available for Baton Rouge's cruise raffle, so that those who are not art lovers still have a means of winning something they want and helping out with our fundraising.

'Royal Street New Orleans' is on display at 'Estate Treasures', 2014 Magazine Street, NOLA 70130 until our draw on December 7th. If you would like to buy raffle tickets, or want to help us out by selling some, then contact me (Rev Clinton) on 504 214 4340 or email me at revcrawshaw@yahoo.com. Alternatively, tickets can be secured online through paypal - Buy Now
More details at www.bigeasymcc.com/fundraiser.html

Remember! Whoever sells the most tickets wins a Giclee (canvas gallery wrap) print of the above painting!

 Music Ministry
I cannot say how moved I was last Sunday by the music. I was in floods of tears during the last song, and would like to thank Ken, Russ, Vivian and the Worship Team. There is rehearsal at 7.00pm this Thursday, and Ken is working on some new pieces! We now have a couple of condenser mikes as well, so the efforts of the Worship Team can be heard properly! Come along and join - no preconditions, and you may surprise yourself!

prayer hands

 FOR PRAYER..

Precious God, Father and Mother of us all - lift up our desires, and dreams, and fear, and enfold them in Your Purpose - Your Spirit. We trust always in You, no matter what we have to face it is nothing as long as we are with You. We pray for all who are sick and lonely, and all who have no one to pray for them, give them we pray some measure of the blessings we feel in Your Presence. We pray for Lillian, Margaret, James, Will, Robert, Richard, Dorothy and many many more whose name are unknown to us. Be there for these souls as we feel You here for us. In Jesus Name. Amen.
