Man on Phone

On Wednesday, February 16th, the Personal Assistance Services Council (PASC) will be hosting an IHSS Consumer Conference Call to discuss the cuts and changes to the IHSS Program proposed in January by Governor Brown. The conference call will be moderated by Marty Omoto, Director of the California Disability Community Action Network, and will provide vital information on proposals to

  • Reduce IHSS service hours by 8.4%
  • Eliminate IHSS hours for domestic and related services
  • Establish a new IHSS eligibility certification requirement
  • Eliminate funding for IHSS advisory committees
  • Reduce and/or cut other programs utilized by IHSS consumers, including SSI/SSP, MSSP and Medi-Cal

The call will be held on February 16th, from 1 PM - 2 PM. Consumers who wish to join the conference should dial 866-885-0409 a few minutes before 1 PM, and enter conference ID number 565591.

Using the PASC Homecare Registry Part II: Selecting a Provider

In last month's edition of PASC E-News, we discussed the process of signing up with the PASC Homecare Registry. In this, the final part of the article, we discuss what you need to do once you have completed the application process.

Getting a Referral List

Once you have signed up for the Registry, obtaining a provider referral list is as simple as giving us a call. When speaking with our Registry staff, you will need to inform them of your current hiring needs (i.e., desired schedule, hours, etc.). They will send you a list of 5-7 names of providers who are available for work, live in your area, and most closely match your specific needs. The list of names can be sent to you by mail, fax, email, or given to you over the phone.

Contacting Providers

It is up to you to call each provider on your referral list, speak with them about the position, schedule a job interview and decide who you wish to hire. Remember that all providers on the PASC Homecare Registry pass a Criminal Background Investigation before they are referred to any consumer.

Notifying PASC and the County

Once you have selected a provider, you should call the Registry at 877-565-4477 to inform us of your decision. You will also need to call your IHSS Senior/Provider Clerk to have your new provider enrolled. If you do not know who your Clerk is, you can contact the IHSS Ombudsman office at 877-678-4477 for assistance.
