Greetings!

Be sure to check out the new local foodie guide, Keren Brown's, Food Lovers Guide to Seattle. Even if you're a lifelong Seattleite, you'll likely find something new to enjoy. NuCulinary is even mentioned! Ms. Brown is having a book launch party on July 25th that will benefit FareStart. Tickets are $5.00.  You can meet Keren tomorrow at Kirkland UnCorked as she will be one of our judges for the Grill-off at 5pm. It will be a lively contest with our chefs (see Community Calendar for more info below); Nancy Leson , Seattle Times food writer will be emcee with yours truly to share all the chefs' grill secrets. Come on up and introduce yourself to me, I will be in a red chef jacket along with our chefs to benefit the Hope Heart Institute.

I also want to tell you about what a good time I had at the Dragon Festival in the International District last weekend. I tried some new Dim Sum places and have all the scoop for you that I will share in my next newsletter. Also I had the privilege to have a fun lunch at the Spice King in Renton with Catherine Reynolds, wine expert and owner of Queso y Vino.

I hope you will come out and enjoy yourselves. Remember, I really only tell you about the good stuff!

Berry-lavender lemonade

Make a simple syrup by bringing 1 cup of sugar & 1 cup of water to boil & allow to cook-down for 5-10minutes on medium heat.

Add your chosen herb (approximately 1 tablespoon or 3-4 springs). Remove from heat & steep for 20 minutes. Strain & chill in fridge.

Add syrup to fresh or frozen unsweetened lemon juice. Garnish with a few berries and/or with a sprig of your infused herb!
