Disaster Aid International Conference
An historic meeting was held in Victoria, BC last week which saw representatives of all the member nations of Disaster Aid International (DAI) gather for their first Conference since being established as an association in Montreal in June 2010. DAI was established as the procurement and deployment arm for the member regions, Canada, Australia, USA and United Kingdom. Visit Disaster Aid International for links to the websites of the various countires. Disaster Aid UK (formerly LifeBox) has recently decided to expand its name to Disaster Aid UK & Ireland to better reflect the area they serve. The tagline of the International logo is " bringing all the pieces together" and that is definitely what took place at this important meeting. If you would like to help us grow the new "group" Friends of Disaster Aid Canada find us on Facebook . We have also set up Disaster Aid International as a "cause" on Facebook. |
Pakistan
Pakistan continues to reel after the devastating floods there. We are doing the best we can for as many as we can, but we would like to do more. Our DARTs have established great working relationships with other NGO's in the region around Mardan and Nowshera, especially the Interfaith League Against Poverty I-LAP and local Rotarians. Even though we have closed our designated Pakistan fund we are still delivering aid there. For a gallery of photos click here. |

NOOCH Snack and Chill Fundraiser
Many thanks to Jonathan Grand Pierre, Shallay Lau, Angela Jung, and all involved in a starstruck fundraising event in Richmond BC. Thanks to their efforts they raised enough money for a four room temporary school for up to 80 children, as well as school supplies for the kids and teachers. Thanks also to Canadian DART Hal Singleton, recently returned from Pakistan, who provided "logistical support" for the event. You can watch a video of the fun filled evening here then scroll down to the video "Starstruck Fundraiser". |
