Be Honest With Yourself

Are you active or just busy? Many people mistake their constant state of motion (i.e. working long hours, shuffling the kids around, driving to Starbucks) as physical activity in the weight-loss sense. Unfortunately, being busy is not the same as being physically active. Keep this in mind the next time you're tempted to skip a work out after a busy day of, say, doing laundry.

Don't Obsess About It Obsessing about every single aspect of your wellness program will not only make you miserable (and miserable to be around), it will likely prevent you from reaching your healthy living goals:

  • There's no need to count every last calorie. Yes, if you're trying to lose weight you certainly need to pay attention to what you're eating, but that doesn't mean that you need to go into full panic mode every time you take a bite. And you certainly don't need to jump on the bandwagon of every new diet gimmick that promises easy and fast results. The truth about weight loss

  • Do what you love. The "right" exercise is the one that's right for you. It doesn't matter what your fitness level is. It's all about finding the activity you enjoy most and sticking with it. Learn to chill out

  • Please don't sweat the scale. Becoming a slave to some arbitrary number that you have in your head will drive you insane. If youre truly just curious, youll climb on the scale every once in a while - not to see if youve reached some arbitrary goal, but just because youre terribly interested in whats happening to your body as a result of your hard work. This is quite alright, but don't do it if you're going to be devastated if your magic number doesn't come up.

  • It's better to start now. For some reason, we have it in our heads that healthy choices can only begin on a Monday. Why is that? Actually, if you make a choice that you wish you hadn't, just recommit yourself immediately. Don't obsess over the mandatory Monday start. It's always better to get back on track right away.

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Eat immediately or cover and chill. Makes 1 serving.
