Along with cookouts, pool parties and summer getaways, July brings us Independence Day.
The holiday was created to commemorate our country's freedom, but it's a perfect time to seek personal freedom from the things that have kept you from achieving the healthy lifestyle that you want and desire.
Oftentimes, a little self-reflection can go a long way towards discovering just why you aren't losing the weight that you've been struggling with.

Learn When To Say Enough Is Enough
An ancient Chinese proverb says, "Eat until you are eight-tenths full."It's easy to understand why this would be helpful advice in a quest to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle, but putting it into action can be difficult at first. Here are some tips to help you get there: - Set your fork down in between each bite. Just forcing yourself to s
low down will allow your brain the time it needs to recognize when you're full. If you eat too quickly, you'll already be stuffed before your body even had the chance to say, "I've had enough." - Eat the low-cal items on your plate first, then build your way up. Start with
salads, veggies, and broth soups, and save meats and starches for last. By
the time you get to them, you'll be full enough to be content with
smaller portions of the high-calorie choices.
- Turn the TV off and make eating purposeful, not mindless. Whenever you put food in your
mouth, peel it, unwrap it, plate it and sit. Engage all of the senses
in the pleasure of nourishing your body.
