VIRGINIA PATIENT SAFETY SUMMIT
Partnering Across the Continuum of Care
This two-day patient safety summit will provide information and strategies on how to enhance patient safety, reduce the risk of error and improve the effectiveness of teams in the delivery of health care in the clinical setting. Participants also will discuss methods for teaching health care professionals how to function as team members.

2012 VIRGINIA HEALTHCARE INNOVATORS AWARDS
Call for nominations
The purpose of the Virginia Healthcare Innovators Awards is to recognize Virginia organizations that have developed innovative ways to improve healthcare quality and efficiency.
This awards program is open to any organization/entity (including not-for-profit entities, private companies and governmental organizations) whose principal office is located in Virginia. Nominations will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Uniqueness (new product or service, improvement on existing product or service, Virginia implementation of a product or service developed elsewhere)
- Demonstrated success/significant external validation during the award period (improved patient outcomes, costs savings, improved access to care, successful clinical trial, regulatory approval, obtained funding.)
- Broad potential impact (replicability, scalability, potential for wide adoption)
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 2, 2012 at 5 p.m.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF FINALIST: May 1, 2012
AWARDS EVENT DATE: June 7, 2012 |
Award Categories - Patient Care: For organizations/entities that either furnish patient care services directly (hospitals, physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers, clinical diagnostic laboratories, or that support the provision of direct patient care services (clinical research organizations, quality improvement organizations).
- Medical Product or Device: For organizations/entities involved in the development, manufacture or distribution of medical products or devices (pharmaceuticals, biologicals, medical devices).
- Health Information Technology: Fororganizations/entities involved in the development, distribution or implementation of health information technology (clinical information systems, electronic health records, telehealth).
- Employee Health: For organizations/entities that have implemented innovative ways to improve the health of their covered employees and dependents through patient education and behavior modification, and worked to effect the delivery of care to improve access, quality and/or outcomes.
Nominations are now underway, and will be accepted via an online form, which can be found at virginia healthcare innovators. The deadline for submissions is March 2, 2012. |
