Summer Reading Club 2012

overdrive kindle

On June 1, you can sign up for the adult summer reading club, Midsummer Madness, online or in any library branch. Have fun reading all summer long and share reviews for a weekly chance at a movie pass or a free book from a Friends of the Library book sale. There are also summer reading programs for kids and teens.

First Friday Art Walk and Headquarters Open House

On June 1, the CRRL's Caroline Street Headquarters will join other downtown galleries in welcoming art lovers on First Friday, from 6:00-9:00. In June, the library's Atrium Gallery features works by the Figure Drawing Group of Fredericksburg. Enjoy the art---and the new look in the first floor browsing area. We are still your favorite library, now better than ever with self-checkout of materials, self-pick up of holds, free ebooks to download. [We'll show you how!]  Join us for wine and light refreshments.

CRRL is Cultivating Community in 2012!

"Cultivating Community" is a community-wide program designed to share information in the Fredericksburg region about farm-to-table and sustainable food communities.

Events will include a "Big Read" of Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and programs at our libraries and local farmer's markets and community gardens. Read all about it here.

Music on the Steps
let's talk about it

Enjoy free concerts presented by the Friends of the CRRL, Mondays, June through August, 7:00-8:00 pm, in front of the Headquarters Library on Caroline Street.

Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, a picnic supper. In case of inclement weather, concerts move inside the library theater.

The season opens June 4  with the Dixie Power Trio belting Zydeco & N'Awlins jazz. See the complete 2012 lineup here.
