Book of the Month
Thirteen-year-old Lacey is excited for the first day of her dream job - working at a library. Her mother's first day of work is also today - as a cashier at the local grocery store. But unlike most girls her age, Lacey must get her mother to work. . . and make sure she stays there.
Ever since her grandfather died and her aunt left them, her mother's condition has gotten worse. Labelled, "agoraphobia," she has an intense fear of leaving the house. In addition, her mother watches the TV, Internet, and newspaper incessantly, worrying herself sick over every disaster and stockpiling supplies beyond normal for the inevitable end of the world.
But Lacey is still a young teen and she can only do so much. When a kind classmate offers to help one day, she finds the burden is something she finally must share. Will his help be enough when her mother finally reaches the edge?
