Hello :

That old adage about time flying really hit me the other day as our daughter, Lexi, attended her first day of school. Seems like only yesterday we flew to Chicago to finalize her adoption  - whew where have those years gone?

Anyway, she wanted you to see her as a young lady and briefly tell you about her new experience - I couldn't resist so please indulge us.

Lexi's Corner: Hi - it's me, Lexi, and I'm almost 3 1/2 years old now. This month I started Preschool and just love it. I was a little frightened before arriving but Mom and Dad  stayed with me for about an hour so it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Truth is they were nervous for some reasons so were better off leaving. I've made a lot of new friends and my teachers are really nice. School is from 9 to 12 three days each week and I get to play, go to art and music class, and one of those days I take ballet after school three days a week. I'm looking forward to having a lot of fun at school and will keep you up to date from time to time through Dad's newsletter.

Bait Boxes:  Sorry to tell you this but we can't provide and maintain free bait boxes for rodents any longer because it's becoming time and cost prohibitive. While the continual residential landscaping in Scottsdale clearly enhances property it also provides an abundance of food, water, and harborage points for pests and animals in populated areas. Such conveniences  have led to a dramatic increase in the rodent population and trying to keep up with these rascals has become a full time job.

Property Destruction and Rodents: I talked about the destruction caused by rodents in a previous Newsletter but for the sake of brevity want to remind you that they chew incessantly and are not the least bit particular about what they sink their big teeth into. The only certainty is that they will cause serious damage to everything they chew and that includes home wiring, drip systems, outdoor furniture, and anything else they find.

New Bait Box Service: We understand your concern with rodents and feel this service offering to be very reasonable. We will provide and maintain bait boxes for rodents each month for a quarterly fee of $40 to be paid in advance. Please email me at bret@sonoranpest.com if you want to take advantage of this service that will commence October 1, 2010.  If you're not interested there's no need to do anything and your bait boxes will be removed. All bait boxes requested after October 1st will cost $20 each plus the quarterly maintenance fee.

Bobcats: There's no shortage of these magnificent creatures in our area and they are becoming less tentative around humans... so be careful because they are not "nice kitties". We've received several calls about Bobcats sunning and napping in backyards as they too are taking advantage of the plentiful food and water around residential property.

If you see one lurking around your home the best remedy is to create loud noises and try to frighten it away or just wait until it leaves. When I was a tad younger I wrestled alligators and bobcats and believe me, I'll take on the gator any day. Bobcats are tough customers and you should let the old pro mess with them.

Referrals: I know - you know the spiel by now. Anyway, same deal:$50 gift card for a new client who agrees to use our services for one year.

That's it for now.  Hang in there as the nicer weather is on the way... finally.

Your business is appreciated and will never be taken for granted.

Sincerely,
Bret
