Hello :

We spent four days in Chicago, more familiarly known as Scottsdale North, for my brother in-law's 50th birthday. The first two days were unbelievable - low humidity and cooler than normal temps - but then reality set in with humidity, temps in the 90s, and sweat.  Believe me it was nice returning to 110˚ ...but I do love my relatives in Chi-town.

Extreme Weather and Pests:  The meteorologists have deemed 2010 as having the most extreme weather in modern day history. In the Phoenix area that phenomena has created a perfect storm consisting of a wide variety of seasonal pests from tiny insects to scorpions to visit us en masse at the same time. The unusually high amounts of moisture and humidity combined with normal summer temperatures accelerate plant growth and that attracts these critters because there's an abundance of goodies for them to eat.

Seed Bug and Flying Ant: Included in the group of unwelcome visitors are seemingly millions of seed bugs and flying ants pictured below. We're receiving an unusually high number of calls from people mistaking them respectively for beetles and termites. Not to worry as both are harmless and merely represent a nuisance.

Fire Ants

While the flying ants are particularly annoying their life span is extremely short and they're dead before our products have a chance to do them in.  We're here at your beck and call if you're concerned with these fellas but it's easiest and quickest to let them die off naturally.

Eliminate Harborage Points: I know this is old hat, but you can initiate some self help by simply keeping the perimeter of your residence neat and litter free. No disrespect, but the fewer "man-made" harborage areas pests have to play in the less likely they will be to enter your home.

New Service Technician:  We've added a new professional to our staff.  His name is John Hively and he's very well qualified but as is our practice, will be training on the job with our top scorpion pro, Jeremy Cole, for the next two months to learn the Sonoran way.

Thank You: I cannot be more grateful for the kind emails we receive monthly regarding the professionalism and service exemplified by our staff. I'll be a little greedy here and ask that you keep them coming as there can never be enough compliments.

Your Voice:  Please let me know of any topics you want discussed.  If your suggestion is of general interest it will definitely be covered in the Newsletter following its receipt.

Referral fee:  Yeah - I'm wearing this out... but a guy's gotta expand his business and the best way to do it is with the help of outstanding clients. So grab your $50 gift card for every person you refer who agrees to use our services for one year.

That's it for this month. Hang in there with the heat for another six weeks or so and we should start getting some relief.

Your business is appreciated and will never be taken for granted.

Sincerely,
Bret
