Hello :
With the weather changing bees will
begin to swarm and we want to alert you to some important information in that
regard. If you see a beehive or several bees hovering around an area or object
on your property CALL US immediately to assess the situation. Don't take a chance - Bee
attacks can occur instantly without provocation.
Why Bees Swarm:
As the hive or colony becomes
over-populated worker bees seek out a new site where a large number of the
colony and a new queen will build another hive and reside. Once a location is
selected this group of bees will leave the old hive en-masse and this movement
creates a swarm.
Africanized Killer Bee: This is the predominant species of honeybee found in Arizona. The
daunting name "Killer Bee" is derived from their method of aggressively
attacking people and animals in swarms of thousands, often resulting in severe
injury and sometimes death. Their vicious attacks often occur without
provocation so the best defense is to ensure that your property and surrounding
areas do not present attractive nesting sites.
Nesting Habits: Africanized
Killer Bees nesting habits cannot be accurately predicted because they nest in
a variety of places including hollow trees, walls, porches, sheds, attics,
utility boxes, garbage containers, trash piles, and abandoned vehicles.
Proactive Safety Measures: Bee attacks cannot be
prevented but taking the following actions can minimize them:
- Vigilance
- don't leave unnecessary items where bees can nest lying in your yard or
surrounding area
- Have
your home professionally sealed by us to prevent bees from nesting in wall
cracks, attics, and other potentially attractive sites
Happy Clients:
Margie and Dennis Goldman were kind enough to provide the following story about
their experience with scorpions. This truly exemplifies our goal of providing
peace of mind and satisfaction.
Building a home in Scottsdale was a major
commitment. Several factors were high on our priority list and we took
extra care in analyzing floor plans, developing landscape plans, and gathering
decorating ideas. We solicited advice from friends and real estate
professionals about as many aspects of life in Arizona we could get. When
we inquired about the need for window and door screens or hiring a pest control
company we were told, "not to worry...you won't be bothered by mosquitoes
and other flying insects like you have in Chicago". That was GREAT
news as far as we were concerned.
Everything seemed to be going well with the house
until one night I noticed a little "lobster" looking creature
crawling along the ceiling in our bathroom. And then the next night I saw
another one, and another one...and ANOTHER one! After discovering
they were scorpions we called a pest control service who assured us they were
equipped to take control of the situation. We signed a contract and were
confident the scorpion issue would soon be a distant memory.
Unfortunately, the scorpion problem was not
resolved. In fact, it increased to the point I was ready to sell the
house and run back to Chicago. After much angst and many wasted dollars
we terminated our contract and asked around for other recommendations and
solutions. A friend of ours recommended Bret Ward, a/k/a Mr. Scorpion,
and Sonoran Pest Control.
We contacted Bret and it was one of the best
decisions we could have made! Bret and his crew responded to our concerns
in an aggressive and effective manner. Under the direction of Sonoran
Pest Control we sealed the foundation around our home, have regular monthly
service calls, and have their intensive "Kill Zone" Program applied prior to
peak scorpion season.
I'm happy to report things are under control and
we couldn't be happier! Without Bret's persistence and commitment and the
thorough job performed by our technician, John, we wouldn't be enjoying our
time in Arizona...we'd be back in Chicago shoveling snow!
