This is a bit late - I sincerely hope that all of you mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day. My plans were to hang around the house - just relaxing - but Lexi laid a big guilt trip on me and volunteered to split the check if we went to brunch, so needless to say, brunch it was. It was nice seeing so many people enjoying themselves, smiling and all decked out in their Sunday best. When our check arrived Lexi had conveniently forgotten her money, but promised to pay me back - I'm not holding my breath.
 Off Road Racing: Yep, it's yours truly competing in the 30 year-old class on my KTM 250cc dirt bike specially modified for off road racing. The AMRA sponsors several races held at courses in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. A race is typically 80 miles made up of four 20-mile loops over rugged terrain consisting of rocks, hills, washes, sand, trees, and whatever else might be on an extremely narrow trail.
Believe it or not - I'm currently in FIRST place with four races to go. This just kills those 30 something year olds in my division who fondly call me gramps and old man - and if all goes well, will soon be calling me champ. I gotta tell ya - the sport is so physically demanding that I'm really beat up at the end of a race and spend a few days letting these old bones recover.
Seriously, my passion during leisure time has been off road racing for the last 20 years, and remains so today, even at the youthful age of 49. Along the way I've met several orthopedic surgeons who put me back together after spills, but I continue on because that's just a part of racing. I know what you're probably thinking... my wife tells me all the time.
Scorpions: This is the mating season for these ornery critters and it will last through August. The females will typically give birth four times with each resulting in approximately 25 new scorpions to place you and your family at risk. We can't prevent the birthing process, but can sure minimize their presence around your premises to make them safer for your family.
