Today is a Good Day!
Today I am choosing to have a wonderful, stupendous, spectacular day. What else could it be? If I look around I have a warm comfortable home shared by people I love, with food in the cupboards and reliable electricity. If I listen I can hear my grandson playing, and the relative silence of living where I do not have to be ever watchful for mortor attacks and roadside bombings, If I sniff I smell freshly brewed coffee and crisp clean air coming through the window. I taste the clean refreshing water that is a available to flow freely 24 hours a day from several taps in my home. All things that most days I take for granted. Many days I do not stop to acknowledge that I am grateful.
If I take time to acknowledge my gratitude it is very easy to come up with a long list of things for which I am grateful.
What is not as easy is to take time to truly BE grateful for everything in my life. Not just the food in the cupboard but the dirty dishes, not just the happy sounds of children playing but the temper tantrums, the laundry and the toys strewn about. Not just the electricity, heat and the running water but the bills that come at the end of each month.
The vibrations and energy created by our positive thoughts can derail and defuse those thoughts of struggle and lack and to give an extrra boost we can use the magnetic energy of our hearts to draw in a sense of harmony with the world by showing our gratitude for all that is.
Listening to a program with Ellie Drake this morning she spoke about how our bodies can become addicted to certain substances that we continually expose them to, such as adrenalin. If we keep reacting to situations in dramatic ways hyping up the adrenalin our bodies begin to crave adrenalin and will therefore create more drama in our lives to feed that need. (And how the female physiology is such that we may not do our best problem solving with increased adrenalin levels.) If on the other hand we can learn to breathe deeply, show gratitude, activating the parasympathetic nervous system we can train our minds and bodies to become an environment where choices are made with compassion and clarity empowering us to trust our choices and have confidence in our decisions.
Creating a more Peaceful Spirit day by day.
