Self Care Right Here Right Now

How long have you been putting off the whole idea of Self Care? Perhaps not consciously but more likely by simply ignoring it. "When I get this done or finish that or when the kids get older or when I retire..."  The time for self care is today, not tomorrow or next week or in 2012.
Self Care is the way that you arrive happy healthy and whole when you get this done or finish that or when the kids get older.  Self Care does not need to be something that takes a lot of time, requires a lot of planning or is one more 'to do' on the already too long list.
Start small.  Start with something as simple as a trick a coaching colleague of mine once recommended.  Lori Smith suggested that when the alarm goes off in the morning, hit the snooze button - then take that 8 minutes before the alarm goes off again for your daily self care ritual.  Perhaps it could be something like this:  8 minutes- breathe - appreciate your nights sleep, your family, your partner; 7 minutes - set an intention for the day; 6 minutes - appreciate your abilities; 5 minutes - focus on your breath, breathe into your belly a few nice deep breaths; 4 minutes - a long full minute of long, luxurious cat-like stretching; 3 minutes - appreciate your bed, your pillow, your blanket that keeps you warm: 2 minutes - think of an affirmation for the day, something you can contemplate throughout the day and 1 minute - smile, yup, just smile for 1 full minute (giggles are optional).  Eight minutes of self care, what a fabulous way to start your day.  Make it a habit - it will change your day, it will change your outlook  What wouldn't be great about getting out of bed each day with a smile on your face?

Abundant Blessings:  In this spot each newsletter I will feature a website I feel is worth checking out.  They will be sites where you can share your abundant blessings.  As we share our gifts with the world, our lives are enriched.  This week you might want to check out how you can make a difference through
