Goal #1 - Tell Others Your Goals

I read a great blog entry this morning written by a woman who turned 45 this week and was putting out the request to those who might read her blog to challenge her with what she might do in her 46th year of life.  Apparently last year she posted 45 sticky notes on the wall of her office with little goals/personal challenges.  One of them was to learn a line dance... someone stopping by her office one day - presumably for some other reason read this note and offered her a line dancing lesson right there in the office.  When we are willing to make our goals and desires known we open up to the possibility that the teacher we seek is right in front of us. As I walked in the park yesterday and the leaves were starting to fall I could feel the cooler days ahead beckoning me to spend more time indoors, to gather projects and ideas that I will spend the colder months working on.  After reading the blog this morning I have recognized that letting you all in on what I am working toward can only help me define my goals more clearly and to achieve my goals more fully.    We just never know who we know that might hold the integral missing link to the goals we are striving for.
With summer ending and as we settle back into a more routine time of year it is a great time to take stock and see where we want to be.
A lot of times goal setting seems to be about the future but what about living in the present?  Personally, I like to set some goals that are things I want to work toward, but I always try to balance that with  goals that can be fulfilled each day and remind me of what is important to me and how I choose to live my life.  One of those goals I put on a sticky on the wall today, spurred on by the blog I mentioned, to everyday tell someone why I am grateful to have them in my life.  I put it on the wall as a reminder that when days get hectic and it feels overwhelming, this is something important to ground me, to keep me in touch with what is really important.
What goals have you already set, or what goals come to mind for you?  I would love to be able to share your ideas in the next Peaceful Pondering...  how can we help you achieve them?
It is human nature to want to help others.  Be bold.   Allow others the joy of sharing in your achievements.
