Tis the Season... Not much new can be said about the most hyped and celebrated season of the Christian Calendar.  Entertaining Friends & Family, Sharing our Faith, Gifts & Love...tis the season. For our part it's a time to slow down, listen, watch and be amazed at all God's creation marveling anew that God came to earth in the body of a tiny baby.

We wish you all the joy, peace and happiness promised by that incredible event some 20 centuries ago, and may His peace bless and follow you throughout the coming year.
Easy Christmas Pary Ideas

Newlyweds in Loving Pose
Christmas is a time to gather with friends and family to enjoy the spirit of the holidays. Unfortunately it's also a time when the chaos of the season can render us frenzied and exhausted. There are gifts to buy, a home to decorate, cards to mail, cookies to bake, combined with harried work and maybe school schedules.

It's no wonder that most people forgo the hosting of parties; with no time seemingly left in the day. It seems the smartest sacrifice to make. But with a few creative Christmas party ideas, you can not only host a party, but have fun at it yourself.

The History of Christmas Garland

The Christmas garlands tradition in America was brought from Europe by the early settlers. Ropes of garland were usually made after the fall harvest. Making and selling Christmas greens brought enough income to furnish many suits of Sunday clothes and a new bonnet when there was little else to do after harvest. Staples, like pine, spruce, and cedar trees that were used could be found in the nearby woods. Greens were gathered by day and in the evening the greens were twisted into garlands around the fireplace. Usually someone could complete twenty to forty yards in an evening.

Christmas Poinsettia Flower History

The Mexican poinsettia, known as the Christmas flower in North America, is used in most Christmas decorations, due to its red color and because it blooms mainly in December. Native to Mexico, it is called Flower of the Holy Night there. The Mexican poinsettias are commonly bright red and now come in pink, white, and other colors. The bright petals of the Mexican poinsettia, which look like flowers, are actually the upper leaves of the plant, called bracts. Some say these star-shaped bracts symbolize the Star of Bethlehem. These beautiful Christmas poinsettia flowers, which have become a symbol of Christmas, are used to decorate festive holiday decor for the Christmas holidays.
