The Geary Gallery Guide, June 2010 Issue Welcome to the June issue. As we head into summer, this month the Geary Gallery is pleased to feature the Land, Sea and Abstracts of Jim Grabowski. In this issue we highlight the works of this renowned Connecticut artist, and his exhibit runs from now through the end of August (read more below). Also in this issue, on a personal note, we’d like to invite you to attend the Second Annual Click it for Cassie Softball Tournament, taking place this Saturday, June 19th at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. Admission is free and we hope you come to cheer on one of the twelve local teams that will be competing, while enjoying hotdogs, hamburgers and all kinds of baked goods made by several of Cassie’s friends. Proceeds will go to the Click It for Cassie Foundation, which was founded in loving memory of our daughter Cassie to bring attention to the importance of wearing seatbelts and the lives they can save. Please help us get the word out by telling your friends. To read more about the event, click here. If you haven’t had a chance yet to see the gallery’s Springtime celebration, “The Poetry of Landscapes,” featuring the paintings of Barbara Lussier, the exhibit will be shown until June 30th. We’d love to see you at the Softball Tournament, and make sure you stop in to the Gallery soon! Sincerely, Anne & Tom Geary |

Enjoy a respite from the heat with a visit to the Geary Gallery this summer where Connecticut native, Jim Grabowski is the featured artist. Well-known for his expansive abstracts, Gragowski’s additional wealth of work includes impressionistic landscapes inspired by the countryside near his Marlborough, CT home, and seascapes that are influenced by the summer breezes of the New England sound shore. With a fresh breath of color and light, his works evoke the power and motion of nature—perfect for Fairfield County art-lovers to enjoy throughout the summer months. Mr. Grabowski was raised in New Britain, and resides in Marlborough, CT with his wife. He earned his bachelor’s degree and MFA from Central Connecticut State University. Afterward, he taught art to elementary school students and later taught at the Institute for Living in Hartford until he became a full-time painter. He has literally created thousands of paintings displayed all over the East Coast, and his works hang in the Pratt and Whitney. His paintings have been commissioned by more than 100 corporations including GE Capital in Stamford, United Technologies, Aetna, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines, St. Francis Yale-New Haven Hospital and New Britain General Hospital. His work has also been sought by non-profit organizations such as Connecticut Public Television, the New Haven Symphony and the Hartford Graduate Center. To view some of Grabowski’s powerful paintings, visit Geary’s online gallery, and read more about his biography here.
