Spring Street Bike LanesBike Lanes Coming to Spring Street this Fall

Last month, we celebrated the new 7th Street Bike Lanes that touched down in downtown LA, marking the the first bike lanes to hit the downtown area. This fall, we'll have a bike lane that will actually run through downtown on Spring Street!

LACBC, the Downtown LA Neighborhood Council, and LADOT are mobilizing our outreach efforts to work with residents and businesses on the Spring Street bike lane that will stretch from 9th Street to Cesar Chavez by December!

If you live and/or work in Downtown LA and are interested in volunteering to help do outreach for this campaign, please email Alexis Lantz at [email protected]. We are currently going door-to-door to local businesses and residential buildings to make sure everyone is aware of this exciting and innovative project.

Read more about it in the LACBC blog and the Blog Downtown.

Thanks for Supporting City of Lights at Our 2nd Annual Awards Dinner

A big thank you all of our City of Lights dinner attendees, sponsors, in-kind donors, volunteers, supporters, and our honorees: Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, L.A. Times columnist and author Hector Tobar, and Dream Rider activist Laura Torres!

We all had a great time last night and raised many funds for the City of Lights program through the dinner, live and silent auctions, and concert with Trio Ellas.

You can read more about it on the LACBC blog as well as in El Pasajero in Spanish. See photos on the LACBC Facebook page.

Reminder: Tour de Taste Has Been PostponedTour de Taste logo (small)

Thank you all for your interest in LACBC's newest fun event the Tour de Taste! Due to scheduling conflicts, we are moving this exciting new event to a different date. This fun and adventurous way to enjoy the delights that Los Angeles has to offer--food--in the best way possible--by bike--will be back and will be even bigger and better than we initially dreamed it would be!

A new date and time will be set very soon and we will be sure to let you know as soon as we do when that is so you can mark your calendars and join us for a biking and dining experience like no other! Check back at our website, or keep checking the e-newsletter for updates.

Bike CorralWe Want Your Bike Parking Pictures

The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition has been a driving force behind the new proposed Bicycle Parking Ordinance in the City of Los Angeles. LACBC now wants to expand lessons learned from research conducted as part of the LA City effort to the rest of the cities in LA County. To help other cities, LACBC is putting together a guide that summarizes elements found in bicycle parking ordinances from across the country.

To make this guide extra spiffy and to involve our amazing members, LACBC is asking you to take pictures of both GREAT bike parking and HORRIBLE bike parking from across Los Angeles County.

Please email high-quality resolution photos with your full name to
[email protected]. All photographers will be credited in the report if their pictures are selected.
