2nd Annual City of Lights Dinner
Join Us for the 2nd Annual City of Lights Awards Dinner Next Wednesday

When: Wednesday, October 26; 6 PM - 11 PM

Where: La Fonda Supper Club - 2501 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles 90057

We're less than one week away from the City of Lights Awards Dinner, and time is running to purchase tickets and support the award-winning City of Lights program that works to empower low-income cyclists!

Your 2nd Annual City of Lights Awards Dinner ticket will give you the chance to see Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, L.A. Times columnist and author Hector Tobar, and Dream Rider activist Laura Torres. As an added bonus, we'll have an all-female Mariachi group called Trio Ellas serenade us with Mariachi and Bolero music. This performance will be exclusive for dinner participants only! By the way, the ticket also gets you in to our benefit concert featuring the locally acclaimed band Very Be Careful. They will play Vallenato music from Colombia.

Purchase your ticket today and/or sponsor a day laborer (especially if you can't make the actual dinner). Tickets for the dinner and music are now $45 for everyone, whether you're an LACBC member or not! You can sponsor a day laborer for $30. If you want to only come to the concert, tickets will be $20 at the door.

If you have questions, please contact Andy Rodriguez at [email protected].
Winning Campaigns LA TrainingLocal Bike & Ped Advocates Prepare for Victories at Winning Campaigns Training

This past weekend, 28 bike and pedestrian advocates gathered at the LACBC headquarters for the Alliance for Biking & Walking Winning Campaigns training.

Led by Brighid O'Keane of the Alliance and one of LACBC's co-founders Ron Milam, now of Ron Milam Consulting, this 3-day training gave us the tools we need to propel our bike and pedestrian campaigns to victory! We covered everything from defining our problems to setting campaign goals to assessing and managing our resources.

Part of what made this training so special was the presence and enthusiasm of many of our LACBC regional groups. Local bike and ped advocates represented Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West San Gabriel Valley, Montebello, Beverly Hills, the Antelope Valley, West Hollywood, and Glendale. We also had some visitors from Ontario, CA; Boise, Idaho; Mexico City; and the State of California via Sacrament. We can't wait to dive into these campaigns, engage our members and supporters, and create more bike- and ped-friendly communities.

Read more about the Winning Campaigns Training on the LACBC blog and view photos on the LACBC Facebook Fan Page.

Thank you all for your interest in LACBC's newest fun event the Tour de Taste! Due to scheduling conflicts, we are moving this exciting new event to a different date. This fun and adventurous way to enjoy the delights that Los Angeles has to offer--food--in the best way possible--by bike--will be back and will be even bigger and better than we initially dreamed it would be!

A new date and time will be set very soon and we will be sure to let you know as soon as we do when that is so you can mark your calendars and join us for a biking and dining experience like no other! Check back at our website, or keep checking the e-newsletter for updates.

Bike CorralWe Want Your Bike Parking Pictures

The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition has been a driving force behind the new proposed Bicycle Parking Ordinance in the City of Los Angeles. LACBC now wants to expand lessons learned from research conducted as part of the LA City effort to the rest of the cities in LA County. To help other cities, LACBC is putting together a guide that summarizes elements found in bicycle parking ordinances from across the country.

To make this guide extra spiffy and to involve our amazing members, LACBC is asking you to take pictures of both GREAT bike parking and HORRIBLE bike parking from across Los Angeles County.

Please email high quality resolution photos with your full name to
[email protected]. All photographers will be credited in the report if their pictures are selected.
