Dear Friends and AMP Members,

On Friday night, September 28, AMP will have its first European multimedia art event. AMPsterdam will take place at the beautiful and historic Fantasio, a club in the center of Amsterdam with a fascinating history. Fantasio, a part of the Nationaal Pop Instituut of the Netherlands, has just been reopened after many years asleep, and AMP is thrilled to be a part of its new beginning.

Like our events in Los Angeles, AMPsterdam will be a bold mix of live performance - including electronica, poetry, acoustic guitar, performance art, rock and roll, and more, photography, painting, live drawing at the performance, and experimental film. Check out the website for more details.

Atiim admiring Marc's Work
Thanks to AMP members Bekka Fink and Atiim Chenzira for co-hosting AMP's July party in the San Francisco Bay area. There was a fantastic array of performances, including sets from Divasonic, Bekka, Mary's Dream, and more; set designer and sculptor Antonio Echeverria brought his amazing portfolio to share; and Marc Scheff's performance portraits, drawn on his computer on site for a few lucky guests, were a huge hit. Above you can see Atiim looking at the Marc's first portrait; mine is at the bottom of this email.

To the hundreds of Southern California AMP members: be on the lookout for our next gathering to happen in Los Angeles sometime in mid-Fall. Send me an email if you'd like to help with organizing!

Paul van Dijk
Featured AMP Member Paul van Dijk of Amsterdam, the Netherlands has been an independent live music promoter for almost 30 years and a dj for 4 years, and he now organizes a weekly club night at Fantasio. We're so pleased to have Paul co-organizing AMPsterdam! Read on to see what Paul has to say about himself:

It's almost 30 years now since I promoted my first ever live concert. I remember making the poster and putting on the show. I have a very vague memory of the show, but my best memory of that night is of me in the back of the room enjoying the audience and the cheerful atmosphere. Since then I have put more than 10,000 bands and solo artists on stage. Not much has changed. My kick is still putting people on a stage and finding an audience for them, helping them to move forward in their artistic careers.

Hope to meet you at AMPsterdam!

Drew Burgess: Crumbs in the Bed
Get to know your community. If you don't feel like it's your community yet, then just say hello! Posting a blog is a good way to do that. Posting an image is a good way too. Share your thoughts and show your work to the most intensely fascinating worldwide community of thousands you'll ever have the pleasure of knowing. Start by looking through AMP's World Gallery - the visuals, the words, or both - to see what we're saying to you.

Look for our next event to happen in Los Angeles, probably sometime this Fall. Stop by, maybe show your work, or maybe even perform. And maybe if you're lucky, someone like Marc Scheff or Henk Langeveld, who will be drawing at AMPsterdam, will "take your picture."

See you soon?
