Dear Friends and AMP Members,
Alien Branch

AMP’s been experiencing tremendous expansion over the last month - which means your opportunities for connecting with artists and arts resources worldwide have been growing too. Since I last wrote to you, there’s been an enormous explosion of activity on the site: new members, new art, new countries, new places to sleep when you take your art on the road, and a burst of creative energy. In strolling through AMP’s landscape, I can see experimental film stills from AMP Member Geert Wachtelaer in Belgium; I can see AMP Member Tina Oppenheimer’s crocheted lifesize replica of herself; I can watch AMP Member Christina’s astonishing green film of fish being born; I can hear AMP Member Dave Dubline’s recording of the Belfast Cathedral; I can read what AMP Member Skip247 of Norwich in the United Kingdom has to say to you all in his blogs; and so much more. Come on in and feel the growth - there’s a lot more planned for the coming months!

Giant Chair
As always, my favorite thing to do on the AMP website is to browse through your member profiles and see what you’re doing. (You can do this too by going to the website and clicking on “AMP Members: A Complete List.”) Well, there’s a lot more to look at now! In the last month, the AMP community has grown by nearly 250. There are now very nearly 1400 of you in 44 countries. We now have AMP members in 9 more countries: Egypt, Israel, the Phillipines, the United Arab Emirates, Lithuania, Russia, Hungary, the Dominican Republic, and South Korea. We’ve also had very good recent growth in Australia, the UK, and India. One in five of you is offering other members a place to sleep, and we’re getting over 4700 impressions, or hits, on the website per day. We also now have a page where you can donate your time or money to AMP at http://www.pluginamp.com/supportamp.html . While membership is always free, a donation of any size is a tremendous help.

And what places visited AMP in the month of September? The United States, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the European Union, Canada, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, Iran, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, the Russian Federation, Taiwan, Italy, Hungary, India, Sweden, Egypt, Japan, Thailand, Spain, Hong Kong, Philippines, France, Macedonia, Argentina, Switzerland, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Slovenia, Singapore, Austria, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Greece, and Chile. More to come...

Fishy 500
AMP Member herzco has the most populated image gallery on AMP. Los Angeles photographer Beth Herzhaft has posted 38 of her photographs so far in AMP, and has 4 separate AMP image sub-galleries of her own. She says of her work: “What I seek to do in my urban and suburban landscape work is to reveal in a poetic manner things we so often take for granted or ignore. I am not at all interested in the generic “beautiful” images or in the “decisive moment.” Instead, I inhabit the space between ironic and heroic imagery...I enjoy interacting with the commonplace and overlooked, and attempt to show that, even at its most mundane, the world is deeper and more remarkable than we often believe it to be.” Besides her art photography, she’s been a photographer for many years in the editorial, advertising and entertainment fields, where she’s photographed everyone from Radiohead to Bill Gates to the Buzzcocks. And yes, you can hire her. Find more of her work at http://www.herzco.com, or click the link below.

Me and Me
How would you like to expand your art world? Chances are, AMP can help you with it, or point you in a good direction. Are you visiting another part of the world - even in your own country? Look on AMP to see if there are any AMP Members where you’re going, so you can meet to say hello. Perhaps you can even stay with them as you pass through town. Write a blog - many more people are aware of you if you communicate something in a blog. Each of the last 10 blogs are linked on the front page. Looking for some interesting opportunities? Look in AMP’s forums. They change nearly daily, and the last 10 forum topics are also linked on AMP’s front page. Looking for a gig somewhere else in the world? AMP has already helped several AMP Members book tours worldwide. Look through AMP’s International Arts Directory to see if the information you need has been listed there yet - there’s a lot to discover in there! Want to browse through some really interesting art links? Check out AMP’s Site of the Day Archives. Want to make thousands of artists worldwide aware of what you do? You can advertise with AMP too.

So what are things like in your town? Post some photos - have a look at the galleries for the variety of categories, or email me to suggest one. Write a blog. I think we’d all like to hear from each other. And tell your friends about AMP too - just copy the invitation linked in this email's Quick Links, and send it on to a friend in an email.

We look forward to seeing more of you!
