Dear AMP Member,
wheel of light

The actual creation of art is often a solitary process. But what and who inspired you? What did you see, hear, or touch that moved you to think or feel differently? And who led you to that experience? The people who lead us to inspiration are invaluable. They exist everywhere, but how do we know who they are, and how to find them? How much more inspiration could we find if we shared our artist communities? Here’s a great resource for those who want to know about what’s going on in Los Angeles: AMP member fumiko amano’s event list. Every week, Fumiko puts together a fantastic guide to art events in Los Angeles - some widely known, many known only to a few - that helps to keep those on the list in the know. You can check her website - http://soniclady.livejournal.com/ - weekly, and you can also put yourself on the emailing list. I’d love to know about lists and websites like this that exist for any and all other cities in the world. Do you know of any? Please send me your links, so we can expand the AMP community’s possibilities even more. And to expand via another kind of community, visit http://www.myspace.com/ampartists - that’s right, AMP now has its own MySpace page. Become one of AMP’s “friends” on MySpace!

Just last week, three new features were added to AMP's front page. First, there's the Art Site of the Day, which you'll find front and center on our webpage. I'll be putting up a new one every day, so check back daily to see what's new. Second, AMP's webpage will feature a new member on the front page every week, so you can learn more about your worldwide network of community connections. Third, the latest image to go into the "Art and More" image galleries now goes up on the top right of the page, just under the "Galerie des Penses," so you can have a view of each new piece as it's posted.

Juliet smile
Juliet is a very busy person! Originally from Chicago, she now calls Los Angeles home. A composer and singer of electronica, jazz, funk and cabaret music, she also wrote and directed her own cabaret show, "The Lord's Lover," which has been performed in Los Angeles, and may soon be on the way to off-Broadway New York! She's been found performing at nightclubs, French restaurants, and community benefits, and has even sung jazz in Cairo, Egypt. And as if that wasn't enough, Juliet is also currently directing Rick Gradone in his new one-man show, "Semi-Permanent" about his adventures in high-fashion hairstyling. Juliet would enjoy a chat with you about Sufism, Nietzsche, Maslow, Proust, or Paglia - and you'd enjoy seeing and hearing her perform. Her costumes are amazing, and her voice is so very rich and smooth - like butter. Go to one of Juliet's Torch Ensemble shows, and you may even see me on the stage as well, with my accordion - if she's able to coax me up there. It's been a long time since my last public performance, but sharing the stage with Juliet would be a pleasure...

A great way to connect with a community is to offer something helpful. AMP’s starting to build a benefits package for its members. We’ll be adding features on an ongoing basis, but to start with, you may want to consider taking some belly dance classes with AMP Member Msmera, one of the best belly dance teachers anywhere, and certainly tops here in Los Angeles. She’s been my teacher for the last 11 years, and I can tell you with no reservations that she’s fantastic. Keep an eye on AMP in coming days for the exact details of what Msmera can offer you! If you have a service or product that you offer, consider becoming a member of the AMP Benefits Package, and offering AMP Members a discount. Just send an email to me at pluginamp@gmail.com if you’re interested and we can discuss details. And if you’d like to advertise with AMP, contact us at AMPads@gmail.com for rates and packages.

To what artist community will you look for your inspiration? To learn more about who to connect with in the AMP community, login and click on “AMP Members: A Complete List,” and then browse through the “Art and More” image galleries. You’ll find such images as AMP Member herzco’s “Falling” series of photos, some of which she’s posted on AMP. What a great way to connect with someone: admiring their art, then sending them an email - asking about what things are like right now in their part of the world, what inspired their art, and who’s in their community of artists. Look for inspiration in AMP!
