This past summer I had the opportunity to study with renowned hypnotist Dick Sutphen, widely known for his metaphysical approach to the development of human potential.

A significant part of the class involved the "Spiritual Laws" that often underlie the problems you encounter.

One fascinating principle is the Law of Destruction-that people, organizations and even nations have a tendency to auto-destruct at a certain point.

Examples:

-A band struggles on the club circuit  for years and finally releases a hit album, achieving wealth and recognition.  Shortly thereafter one or more key members make a nightmarish descent into substance abuse.

-A spiritual leader gathers a large following to his teachings and then is disgraced by a scandalous lapse in his behavior.

-A man struggles at a job for many years that he claims to dislike. Within a few short years of retiring his health rapidly declines and he passes away ( a very common occurrence).

-History recalls several mighty nation states that created far flung empires and then began to implode afterward.

The Law of Destruction suggests that the common element at work with these examples was that upon reaching a certain level of success, there was a loss of focus and subconsciously there is a desire to have the challenge back.

In turn, the life energy of the group or person refused to stagnate  and found a negative outlet instead.

The good news is that you do have the ability to refocus and redirect yourself.  Maybe you have reached a certain level of career success. Then perhaps now is a good time to focus physical fitness and health or strengthening your personal relationships?

There is something to be said for the old saying about life "being a journey, not a destination." Keep on striving!
