Imagine what it would it be like if you could  positively influence others-sometimes without even saying a single word? Covert Hypnosis -An Operator's Manual was authored by one of my favorite teachers Kevin Hogan. A best-selling author in the fields of persuasive communication and influence, this report gives straight up information on how to use the principles of hypnosis, NLP and advanced persuasion techniques in every day life. Welcome to the latest issue of the Creative Calm newsletter. I trust this finds you peaceful, relaxed and optimistic during these lazy days of midsummer, and if not give me a call at  (732) 714-7040!

In this issue we will review a simple linguistic trick that can often have a miraculous effect when you feel stuck.

Also, I purchased the rights to an audio track that may be of interest to you, especially if you are a practitioner of the healing arts.

Most readers of the Creative Calm Newsletter have at least a passing familiarity with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) or the study of how language "programs" the nervous system, similar to software on a computer. "Garbage in, garbage out" applies not only to your PC or Mac, but your mind as well.

Not unlike computer code, language can have subtle yet influential and important nuances you may be unaware of.

If you listen closely to what others are saying or what you say to yourself in the form of inner dialogue when discussing a problem, one aspect you might become aware of is its "temporality" or the sense of time associated with it.

Does the problem have the potential for changing/shifting/evolving or is it trapped in an "eternal present?"

For an example let's use, "I don't have the motivation to produce the latest edition of my newsletter" (a true example by the way,  during the summer I often slip into the utter lack of urgency known as "island time.")

"I don't have the motivation" doesn't tell us whether this has always been a problem or will continue to be one in the future. Saying so gives you no reason to believe that this state of affairs is going to change any time soon.

The way around this is to add the almost magical phrase of "up until now." Stating "I have lacked the motivation to produce my latest newsletter-UP UNTIL NOW," suggests that the situation is getting ready to improve.

Regarding this particular linguistic technique, Eldon Taylor said in his most recent book Mind Programming, "a whole new space is created to assist us in remembering that what we say and what we think is what we claim."

The right background music can definitely improve the experience with any of the natural healing arts, whether it is hypnosis, meditation, massage, yoga, etc.

I recently purchased the rights to a track entitled Dimensions, it is a kind of slow, dreamy drone that helps reduce external and internal distraction.

At a little over an hour in length, your purchase entitles you to use it as background music for any hypnosis or meditation audio programs that you produce.

If you would like to listen to a short clip of Dimensions and to learn how you can download the full MP3 file, please visit:

Mind Lines Review

Many regular Creative Calm readers are involved with the healing arts in some way and sometimes our discussions involve book recommendations.

Mind Lines by Hall and Bodenhammer is one that I have suggested to colleagues numerous times over the years. It is a great volume for anyone involved with any type coaching, counseling or any other situation where positive persuasion skills are a must.

One review states "This book will teach you how to recognize and use the magic of language. In doing so the authors bring order, understanding, and magic to the use of language in influencing, persuading, selling, negotiating, and many other human interactions."

I would caution that this is not a volume for the casual reader. The information is powerful and complex and will take a bit of time and effort to assimilate. However, it is a wonderful self-study resource that will take your communication skills to the next level.
