Welcome to another edition of the Creative Calm Newsletter, I trust this finds you feeling like the world is your oyster-and if not, give me a call at (732) 714-7040! A lot going on at this end to update you on.
In this edition we are going to explore the fascinating world of dreams. Sigmund Freud stated that dreams were the "royal road" to the subconscious mind and we can learn a lot from their study. The feature article below was excerpted from How to Interpret Your Dreams which you can purchase if you wish to gain expertise in this subject.
This March I have two classes at Ocean County College that will help you or someone you know with keeping two of the most popular New Years Resolutions.
Reading "A Coke and Smile?" may have you thinking a little more deeply about your choice in beverages.
I am proud to announce a new colloborative venture I am part of, the BrainPower Speaker's Series- a speaker's bureau that will be serving the Jersey Shore for years to come.
Lastly, at the risk of alienating my Wisconsin readership (which I imagine is relatively small) GO BIG BLUE! And may all of you have a great time during the upcoming Super Bowl!

"Last night I had the strangest dream!"
How many conversations in your life have started that way? People are fascinated with the movies that play in their head while they're sleeping.
Some believe dreams can predict the future. Others say dreams depict real life. Still others believe that dreams are a manifestation of what we want to be.
Interpreting dreams has evolved over the years to what some consider an art form. We spend one-third of our lives sleeping.
In the average lifetime, six years is spent dreaming. That's more than 2,100 days spent in a different world! Every night, we spend an average of one or two hours dreaming and usually have 4-7 dreams per night.
Consider some of these other facts about dreams and dreaming:
- Everybody dreams. EVERYBODY! Simply because you did not remember your dream does not mean that you did not dream.
- Dreams are indespensable. A lack of dream activitiy can mean protein deficiency or a personality disorder.
- Men tend to dream more about other men, while women dream equally about men and women.
- People who are giving up smoking have longer and more intense dreams.
- Toddlers do not dream about themselves. They do not appear in their own dreams until the age of 3 or 4.
- If you are snoring, then you cannot be dreaming.
- Blind people do dream. Whether visual images will appear in their dream depends on whether they were blind at birth or became blind later in life. But vision is not the only sense that constitutes a dream. Sounds, tactility and smell become hypersensitive for the blind and their dreams are based on these senses.

A Coke and a Smile?
What Happens to Your Body Within an Hour of Drinking a Coke
Do you want to be healthy? Drinking soda is bad for your health in so many ways; science can't even state all the consequences. Here's what happens in your body when you assault it with a Coke:
Within the first 10 minutes, 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. This is 100 percent of your recommended daily intake, and the only reason you don't become nauseous as a result of the overwhelming sweetness is because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor.
Within 20 minutes, your blood sugar spikes, and your liver responds to the resulting insulin burst by turning massive amounts of sugar into fat.
Within 40 minutes, caffeine absorption is complete; your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, and your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream.
Around 45 minutes, your body increases dopamine production, which stimulates the pleasure centers of your brain - a physically identical response to that of heroin, by the way.
After 60 minutes, you'll start to have a sugar crash.

BrainPower Speaker's Bureau
Recently I have joined a collaborative effort with two other hypnosis professionals well known at the Jersey Shore, Eleanor Fisher and Rhoda Kopy.
We have formed a speaker's bureau to help promote public awareness of the benefits of hypnosis counseling. This service is available at no charge to local service and social organizations. This is our way of giving back to the communities that have enabled our success.
Presentations on wellness and motivation topics for the corporate environment are also available for a fee.
If you belong to a group, organization or corporation that could use an informative and entertaining presentation, please visit www.shorehypnosis.com
