Attention Hypnotists:
Welcome to the Creative Calm Newsletter, I trust this finds you in an absolutely magnificent place of luck, health, success and motivation.

In this issue we will look at frequently asked question, what works better: group or private session hypnosis counseling?

Also, does your group or organization need a fascinating presentation for your next meeting? Mysteries of the Mind: Imagine That! may be what you are looking for.

Finally, I am once again offering my annual Spring Trance-Formation discount to my loyal readers in the spirit of April the 15th. Not only is it income tax day here in the US (where the government taketh away, so I figured I might as well giveth), it is also the birthday of Leonardo DaVinci and a certain New Jersey Hypnotist. Feel free to pass the offer along to anyone who might be interested.

What Works Better?

A question I have been frequently asked over the years is whether a person will get better results with private or group session hypnosis counseling? Like so many things in life, the true answer is "it depends."

There are certain issues that can really only be worked with properly in the one to one setting, for example overcoming unhealthy fears.

However, when it comes to matters of habit control like smoking cessation, I have seen people achieve remarkable results in the group environment.

Perhaps it would be helpful to understand what it means that hypnosis "worked" when helping someone make a change in their life.

As best I can tell it can be best summarized into two phases. The first is the shift in perception, where the person goes from the mental frame of not believing she can achieve a goal that is possible and wanted, to one of expanded potential.

The second phase is the realization and acceptance that the change has actually occurred. Too often a person will make some progress towards a stated goal and then will discount that progress, believing that it is inevitable that the past must always repeat itself.

With group hypnosis, the phase of realization is strengthened by seeing the progress of others and having yours recognized too. This is especially true when the group members already know each other and have a strong desire for not only individual success, but for the group as a whole.

Now it should be mentioned that the positive results I have seen come out of group programs have had a relatively small number of members, say 4-12 people. At that number, a group bond can form quickly and the facilitator can provide some individual attention if needed.
