Greetings!

For many people there are days where you remember exactly what you were doing, exactly where you were, and exactly how you felt. One of those days is November 22, 1963, when President Kennedy's death was announced. Younger folks remember September 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked three airplanes and killed thousands. Let us pray that another day of tragedy is far, far away and our children and grandchildren will have no special day of horror to remember.

The city believes it has historical value, but doesn't have definitive plans on what to do with it just yet.
The home belonged to Ruth Paine, a woman who had taken in Oswald's estranged, pregnant wife Marina, at the time of the event in 1963. Oswald reportedly stored a rifle in the home's garage, which was missing on the day of the assassination, leading to the belief that he picked it up when he came to visit the day before.

He said he always has accepted the conclusion that a lone assassin killed his brother John and that Kennedy family members had worried about the emotional health of his brother Robert following John's death in Dallas in 1963. He said it "veered close to being a tragedy within a tragedy." He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery near the graves of his brothers, Robert Kennedy and John F. Kennedy.

A Clash Of Camelots
Cover Story Vanity Fair Magazine
Within months of J.F.K.'s death, the president's widow asked William Manchester to write the authorized account of the assassination. He felt he couldn't refuse her. Two years later, nearly broken by the task, Manchester found himself fighting a bitter, headline-making battle with Jackie and Bobby Kennedy over the finished book. The author chronicles the toll Manchester's 1967 best-seller, The Death of a President, exacted-physically, emotionally, and financially-before it all but disappeared.

I thought that it would be bound in black and
put away on dark library shelves. -Jacqueline Kennedy

Certain revelations in the four installments took the public by surprise: Manchester questioned why two middle-aged Secret Service agents with "slowing reflexes" were assigned to President Kennedy, and wondered why they were not routinely tested; the driver of the limousine was 54, and the agent sitting beside the driver was 48. "They were in a position," Manchester wrote, "to take evasive action after the first shot, but for five terrible seconds they were immobilized." Readers also learned how Mrs. Kennedy "struggled with a nurse who tried to bar her from the operating room." And how the president, after being in a crowd the night before their arrival in Dallas, had said to her, "Suppose a man had a pistol in a briefcase."

The taped interviews Jacqueline had made with Manchester were delivered to the Kennedy Library and are kept under seal, not to be made public until 2067-l00 years after publication of The Death of a President. By 1970, royalties for Manchester's book had reached $1,057,347.64, all donated to the library. Manchester later complained that he was one of the library's biggest single donors, but his book and research materials were kept away from the public and unavailable to scholars. (Note: and  were not, evidently, covered by the JFK Act.)
